My only opposition is that on Facebook any engagement I have with my posts are genuine.
I post debate-provoking content about the gaming industry on my website, and since I've never been able to get eyes to it naturally, I always shared my content on Reddit. Unfortunately, it's a toxic pit and the majority of people accused me of starting a riot, so, in an attempt to get substantial input from like-minded individuals, I thought I'd join SteemIt.
Now, I've only been on here for a month, and I get fewer views on my posts now than I would if I would be posting on Reddit. But so far my venture has been a failure. At least when I posted on Reddit, I knew the comments were by passionate gamers adding their voice to a conversation - even if it was harsh - I knew it was genuine.
On here, the only replies I get are shallow "thanks for posting your content, here's an upvote." I came to Steemit because I thought posting on a site like this would enable me to get genuine thought-provoking comments on my pieces, but instead people are only motivated by money - copying and pasting their comments on every post they see.
At this point, I'd be getting better engagement on Facebook. Maybe my content sucks, maybe I'm doing it wrong, but at least on other sites it was sincerely valued - even if it was only by a handful of people.
