My philosophy is that I don't usually upvote my own comments, being an ex-redditor it just feels wrong. But then again if I see a thread full of irrelevant spam, I feel like it helps to upvote my comment so that OP or others can see it easier. Usually it feels better to leave it empty and then see others upvote it. :)

I have been flagging a lot of spam of late. Sadly, I still see these spammers and bots continue to operate. But I'm sure the folks at Steemit are taking notice.
I have been meaning to do more research on this, but I do believe being accurate with your upvotes (in terms of what turns out to be popular) gives you greater rewards. Rather than spamming the upvote button everywhere. Which is another reason I don't upvote myself.
