Dinner with minime

It is Summertime here in my city Copenhagen = my minime has summervacation and I think of stuff we can have a good time with together... thought I would share a bit with you guys !

For quite some time I have heard that the local community house is pretty good and very affordable place to eat ... they have dinner arrangement Tuesday and Thursday, there are only 50 seats and you order online, they are pretty wanted so one has to be fast... well I was successful and got us 1 1/2 ticket cost = 17 US dollars ...very cheap for a dinner ...

My daughter in on the stairs in front of the community house, Christianshavn Community House has a very colorful past, its a cultural hotspot in the middle of copenhagen, located in the very pictoresque neighbourhood of Christianshavn, it has a Cafe, rehearselrooms,workshops and then there is the Dining House which we were going to.

this is inside the Cafe where we picked up our dining tickets minime got slightly offended by the fact that she merely got half a ticket ... lol I guess little people wants equal treatment ...

The art on the walls was pretty awesome I totally digged that ...I gotta check out who the artist is ...

This was taken in front of the dining room... now this is not really a restaurant in the regular terms ... I did not know that we should have bought something to drink in the cafe before going up lol, the room was filled even that we were right on point and all tables were occupied ... which means you just gotta sit down at a table even though some strangers are sitting there too... the tables were not big seats for 4-5 at a table ... comfy if you are friends or family lol but slightly akward when you are not ... I kept in mind how cheap it was took a huge ... gigantic breath and closed in on a table with 2 unoccupied seats and asked if the seats were taken, the lady looked as uncomfortable as I felt and answered that they werent ... so we now had seats ... on to the line for food... this was the days menu

Yup... I read your mind ! you don't read danish hehe ... well let me translate Hearbsalted Roast of Veal and warm grain salad with Spinach and green asparges ( the menu was what had lured me in in the first place lol.... I love meat hehe) on the side the salad of the day and bread ....

The food was good (I like red meat so it could have been a bit more on the rare side, but cooking roast to 50 persons I think this was a good medium) The Grainsalad did not look great... but it tasted sooo good really great flavours and the asparges still had a good bite in them ... The salad of the day was nice too and the dressing really yummy, the bread was also homemade and good with butter .... and we had water with it ... I enjoyed the food ... minime enjoyed the meat and the bread ... the salads looked too suspicious to her ... so she did not experiment with them lol

Our fellow table holder were 2 ladies the one had a small dog with her ... that made minime's day ... they were dining out as it was the other lady's birthday ... they were kind and we small talked a bit... quite a challenge but it was nice ... the energy in the room was very relaxed and chill.... after dinner we sat out side and minime had a chocolatemilk and I enjoyed a cold beer and a ciggy ....

It was definately a new experience, our first time at the Dining House on Christianshavn. And I am quite sure that it will not be the last time ... next time though I will try to make sure that we are 4 persons and get there early !

"The story of the house
Christianshavns Beboerhus was squatted by the people of the neighbourhood in 1975, because they wanted a place to meet up for cultural activities.

In 1976, the City council of Copenhagen agreed to buy the house, and people started an association for the users of the house, the "Beboerhusforening".
Through the years, the house has primarly been based on voluntary work.

Today, a paid staff group of 8 people, supported by a lot of volunteers, are running the house.

The house is ruled by consensus democracy and autonomy, by the users, the staff and the members of the house association.
It has its own economy, but is supported by the City of Copenhagen.

Christianshavns Beboerhus is for everyone, we try to keep the prices low, so every one can afford to use the facilities of the house.
The most important thing is to strengthen the grass roots spirit, the culture and the music."
