No idea why he undelegated all of a sudden. I can't read his mind. We don't know why he delegated such massive SP in the first place.
I guess these were new users back then that contributed interesting posts and are now well established, no need to continue supporting them, I guess.
@ned should continue this trend and delegate SP to newcomers who also hold a lot of promise to promote steemit. Delegating only to whales and dolphins won't give Steemit, and Steem Inc., exponential growth in the long-run.

When he did the delegations, there was no announcement about his reasons (as far as I know). It shocked a lot of people.
