Is Anybody Out There?

in #steemit6 years ago

After a personal hiatus from Steemit of a few months, and resuming my activity for a bit. I get the feeling...

Steemit is Dead

Or perhaps there was a mass exodus from the platform and my (listed) 911 followers have since disappeared? Or perhaps there has just been an exodus of like-minded people who create content or find my content?

Are there any real people on here anymore? People who don't just:

-Self Promote
-Promote a Group/Community
-Advertise the same old, but perhaps re-branded, kool-aid of Steemit being the next big thing
-......

What do YOU see? Is anyone REAL reading these posts?

I'm a real person, and I read your post. :-)
I really should interact more with the people who are still putting up posts on steemit, but I don't always have much to say in a reply.
I think a lot of people left the platform when they figured out that they weren't going to make much money on here. I guess they were expecting steemit to be a "get rich quick" scheme, and it's not. I'm still here because I like it, and because I have hopes that the platform will grow.

I think you're spot-on with why a lot of people left. Glad to know you read my junk! :-)

yes, i'm real and i'm reading this post.

Good to know. :) Thanks for letting me know!

Let the re-engagement efforts begin! :D

Seems everyone jumped ship because steem/bitcoin dropped.

Yeah, probably did. It’s difficult because steemit is advertised as a money making platform.

Hey @greenacrehome. Glad to see your back. I too have not been able to devote as much time as I once did to steemit, but I am trying to keep up. Haha! I think part of the mass exodus is from the price of steem dropping, but when it picks back up I think they will be coming back.

I'm sure you're right. That and those who (like me) had life get busy on them or they lost interest... time will tell if they return, I guess. I guess I should spend some time seeking out new creators and their content to follow to better my experience on Steemit... where's that time going to come from?! Hahaha Thanks for commenting!

Prices dropped so I think folks are waiting for them to climb again.

I think your perspective depends on the people you follow. I see a lot of activity on here. Sure, some people have left, but then you go on to find others. It also makes a big difference when you go out and engage/comment on other’s posts.

Yes! This is so true <3

You're right. I've not (until recently) had time to notice or check into it. Time to get digging on here to find new active people! :)

I find there has been an exodus as you call it. But there are still people here. There is still a community. I have actually found that I feel closer to a group of people on here than before my hiatus.
I'm here, I'm real, I'm reading :)

True, it's also partly because some people see the crypto coin ''crashing'' but actually crypto is still up big time. If something goes up xxx% than it's completely ok to go down XX% ...

I am real and have read (and watched) almost all of your recent posts. My bad habit is that I don't leave a comment, even when I find it very fascinating how you manage to build with leftover materials (whether it's a coop or a water collection system); and the precision with which you approach all of your projects.

Personally I stalk a lot of great bloggers on this platform because I serve as a human curator for @curie, looking for under-rewarded posts and authors. Curie does its bit in trying to help retention of users, encourage and give them some visibility in the form of an upvote, and two weekly showcase posts we publish, a comment engagement contest, among other things.

So, to your question if Steemit is dead. I can totally relate why you feel that way, and I often feel same. I hope that you knowing that there are people who are trying to give it a CPR – Curie just happens to be one of those – would give you some bit of drive to carry on.

Cheers,
Ubokobong Akpan

Thank you, this really means a lot to read. Seriously. I'm glad that my efforts are not in vain and someone enjoys them too! :-)

I sometimes feel the same way, however, I too have taken a hiatus from not only SteemIt but also YT. I have only recently gotten back to posting on YT, but I need to do more on SteemIt. Just this time of year is an Extremely busy time for Little Man and I. I would hate to see SteemIt go away as it seems to be the best platform for blogging/videos where I don't have to worry about a blog/video being blocked because of some biased "algorithm"! God Bless!

Steemit is hands-down the best platform for freedom of expression online that I have found to date -- you're right there!

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

Yes

Alive and now following. Nice to meet you! Between upvote bots and a low Steem price, it has gotten quiet. On the bright side, I get far fewer nuisance posts.

That’s is a good point! :-)
