Social Media Site Reddit Censors Trump Supporters - Obsolete?

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

I joined Reddit only because I was seeking bitcoin/ethereum/crypto chat.  I quickly loathed it after r/bitcoin subscription.  The Nazi censorship did not stop there.   How did Reddit even become popular?

Reddit was popular? I never used it. ;)

I've only lurked on Reddit.. why post anywhere and give them free money? lol

Exactly, I was only there for a short time. I can't even log in anymore... I was probably hacked but its not worth it to even reset my password.

Oh then becareful with your password here.. dont lose it! Account is here is much more important..

Indeed. Password is = to private key. I was just making the point that I do not care to take the 2 minutes to try my other passwords for Reddit.

Exactly right.
Reddit, Twitter, Facebook , YouTube and most of the other social media platforms are all engaging in heavy censorship. Deleted posts, bans, and demonetization are the rule of the day and yes I think Steemit is totally going to eat all their lunches over it.

Hey this was my first official Late night drunk post! lol

I can't stand reddit only used it for a short time.

Same here. For me it was just at the beginning of the Ethereum project. Bitcoin sub-reddits were a joke.

I actually grew up without internet or tv, so I only have limited experience in general. When I started using reddit I noticed that they were censoring opinions especially opinions that were considered right wing. Has reddit always censored opinions that they disagreed with, or is this something that is fairly new?

I am not sure, I heard of that as well. The censorship I encountered was in the bitcoin categories. The moderators would delete and censor anything that went against their agenda on bitcoin scaling. It was bad, like North Korea dictatorship. In fact people started calling r/bitcoin North Korea.

That's insane. I wonder why these platforms are still being used, especially since there are other platforms that don't censor opinions. This should concern everyone even if you're not being censored unfortunately, I see people gloating and celebrating censorship like it is somehow a win for their side, it's really sickening.

That is a good question. It is like a hamster on a wheel thinking he is getting somewhere. They just create different subreddits and the same thing ends up happening.
