rewarding comments in your blog rewards and encourages e gagenent and discussion. I see far too little engagement with posts on steemit. One off comments yes but no threads that discuss the topic and evolve as more people add to the discussion. Hopefully with the use of rewarding comments, this can be encouraged.

Big discussion tends to be around controversial topic where people butthead I think...like politics or religion. I'm not sure incentivizing the comment section further would bring more genuine conversations.
The trouble with political or religious discussions is that you have a number of opposing views but it's rare for anyone to change their view, regardless of the strength of the opposing arguements.
