I think it is useful to at least understand what other people are saying even if you don't agree with them. Along those lines, I make it a point to subscribe to news feeds from sources I know I will disagree with. I often don't even read the content, just the headlines, but that way I at least know what path they are on.
But I can certainly see some instances where content is so irritating that it's best to just not even have to wade through it.
