Who Unfollowed the most on Steemit? - Unfollow Report - 2nd July 2017

in #steemit7 years ago

As most of my "Followers" know, I recently came across some users who are simply trying to gain followers using sneaky practices on Steemit. Please read this post to understand why I started generating this report.

How this technique works

1. Follow thousands of people in hope that they will follow back in return
2. Some people do follow back (in-fact a lot do!)
3. After a few days or weeks simply unfollow all users you had followed

This makes their followers numbers more than following and to a newbie user visiting the profile, it seems that these are really popular users.

Steemit is very different from the typical Social Networks and we all know it. With this report, I am not trying to point any fingers and you may have legitimate reasons to unfollow people in thousands! I am just trying to bring more transparency in the platform. The aim is to make aware and discourage people from using such practices which otherwise work perfectly on other closed Social Platforms!

You are free to make your own judgement, I am just empowering you with information :)

Why are we attacking people for their freedoms?

There is no attack on anyone. This information is from the blockchain and this is only a report. As I said in the post, the aim is to be transparent. Make your own judgements. The users are not tagged and neither are they reported.

Freedom to follow, Freedom to Unfollow, Freedom to generate the report :)

Good. I hope so. Good report.

@gyanibilli well said. Freedom of Information!

This is not attacking or judgement, this is transparency.

Rightly said @thephotoguide

It is far better than the last report. That guy had unfollowed 15K people.

LOL, this is the thing.. it's always relative :)

Excellent post. Transparency is the whole name of the game in the block-chain - transparency and privacy combined in a unique kind of return to "We the People".

Thanks a lot! Exactly my point. We can use this power to keep the system clean.
