I started maintaining a diary since I was 12 years old and was writing on a daily basis. I had never thought that anybody would find it or read it. One day I had to travel and left it in my grandmothers house. My aunt found it, read everything and sent it to my mother. You can imagine the rest of the story, especially when your mother isnt cool about you having random crushes!
I used my diary as a way to express things I couldnt say and things that bothered me. Therefore I had to find different ways to hide my diary, but didnt work out. My mother has found it every time and we ended up arguing. It was really frustrating, because I wanted my own space and privacy. I love writing and a diary was a way to express myself, but felt that I cant even do small thing as writing a diary without surveillance. Mostly in those times, when we didnt had internet and blogs. Everything we had was a pen and paper.
Yes I respected and trusted my parents, but that doesnt give them the right to read my diary, even if they care for me. So I bought a diary with a key chain and started writing in a language which only me at home knew, so that my parents won’t understand what I wrote. It was English! And finally the problem was solved. As I grew up, my mother stopped doing that and I wasnt bothered anymore.
Parents are naturally very concerned about their kids, and very curious about what is happening in their lives . But it can end up with the kids living a double life, they cant trust their parents anymore and have to hide everything to not be judged. Reading their diaries will likely do nothing but push them away more and make them want to tell less. Even if parents think, they should know everything about their children, this is an invasion of privacy. And where can they feel comfortable, if not in their own home!

I wrote my diary in Klingon so may parents had no way of reading it. Smart.
Actually, I never wrote one however can imagine how you may have felt having your thoughts and feelings laid bare. These days we expose our innermost thoughts on social media without a second thought. Funny huh?
Yes everything has changed and there are many people sharing their daily life in social media now a days. I still try to keep some secrets in my life and maintain a journal to express my feelings :)
Those musings may be valuable to you in the future. It’s cathartic to write and record ones’ thoughts.
Absolutely!
The real question is, what did @hanen write about when she was 12? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Hhhh about guys in my school and my opinion about some family members :P
Parents will never allow their children to have a crush in so early age. Probably your mother was caring for you more than you expected her to do. It is very difficult for a child to write a diary and keep away from others at home. You managed brilliantly.
Yes now I understand that. At that time I understood everything differently and it was going on until I was 16 or 17 :)
But I have one question, if you don't mind-what will you do if your daughter do the same thing what you did?
Most parents think they should know everything about their children this is without a doubt an invasion of privacy but I feel its the same for lovers @hanen
Yes true, it is same with lovers :)
hahaha, you are quite genius ..... found a good way to protect your privacy.
Thank you :)
Hi hanen 😍 Do y still keep your old diary??
I think my mother still has them :)
