Hi Steemians
It was about 15 years ago where I didnt know how to drive or even use a gun. I was visiting my best friend to spend some time together and play computer games. He had a game on his computer that I didnt have "Grand Theft Auto". I became addicted to that game and spent hours in his house playing it. I became a small criminal who tried to make a name for myself in the Crime Business. Killing people, jacking cars and running drugs. It was all fun and I wanted more and more. I became a professional driver and drove all vehicles from school buses to nice sport cars. Cops became my biggest enemies and had to get rid of them. I Was always busy and had a lot of things going on, but life became more meaningful after having a mission.

I was free and felt that all the city was mine. I could go anywhere and take anything I want. My only nightmare was the police sirens. I had to make sure that I survive every mission and not get arrested. Violence became a part of my daily life. Had no partner or family to think about as all I could do is "Kill".
I wasnt the innocent beautiful child anymore. I stopped enjoying "Tom and Jerry" or " Doland's Duck". Couldnt find my happiness in simple things anymore as everything I wanted was power.

Thats what they did to us to make us see violence as a normal human nature. In computer games, in TV and in cartoons. Children see and learn violence from an early age until many of them commit serious crimes as teenagers. Then we ask ourselves "why they it!"
And now a moment of silence for the video game fallen... :O
I can see what you're saying though, soldier games are one thing, but killing massive virtual civilians with a flame thrower didn't sit right with me after a while.
Fortunately in this case, I don't have children and my dog doesn't want to play GTA
I didnt know that you had a dog! You must share his photos :)
What I played was GTA 1 so all characters were small at that time, but the latest one looks more brutal lol
I think we accept soldier games because we think we are on duty, which is actually the same thing. The only difference is "Kill or you get killed " :)
I played mostly GTA2, a little of 3 which was full 3d by then...
:D
Ah thats great. I have to try them too. It is a nice game where you are absolutely free to do what you want :)
I agree with you @hanen. The influence of games on the internet today is great for everyone, especially children. I myself am also afraid, my children will fall into the game especially the game about violence. For me, always keep an eye on children while socializing with friends around them as well as with friends in social media. Point the child to do things that are useful for his knowledge and limit the child in using gadgets or the internet.
You are absolutely right. It became very difficult now a days as children can find anything anywhere. But we have to keep an eye on them and protect them.
Dearest Hanen, I, unfortunately have to completely disagree with you. I've played so many games and watched so many movies with so much pretend violence, but I've never once wanted to hit someone or break their bones. Despite what the media tells us, this is the safest time in human history.
This article shows the downwards trend: https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2011/06/long-term-trend-in-homicide-rates.html
In medieval times every single person carried a knife or staff for protection, even women.... something like 30% of all young men would be murdered.
People have always been violent, but I'm very lucky to say I've never witnessed an actual fight.
Hhhh you are absolutely right. I was also a Horror freak and watched the most terrible movies ever :) I dont feel like harming anyone in real life, but game is game! All depends on the nature of the person and his experience in life. But remember some years ago, we didnt had all this violence in TV or Games. Now they are doing everything possible to sell their products. It starts with the News etc.
I teach my children to watch only good cartoons :) Thank you for sharing, friend @hanen!
Ah thats great! Thank you too :)
You are so right! Many kids become so drawn to the fantasy of video games and movies that they become deluded of reality.
A friend told me of a guy who would go around claiming Troy wants to take over the world! When you ask him who Troy is he would say he saw it in the movies and would take it seriously.
Oh thats crazy. Some people cant accept their reality or live their normal life, due to their problems. They live in fantasy and try to find their happiness there.
