Steemit is the alternative Facebook on the Steem blockchain. A site where people can post whatever they want on Facebook, Twitter or Reddit anyway, but potentially make a decent amount of money if they give a good overview and follow a few steps.
People are making money off the rise of their messages or comments.
Of course, there's also DTube (the YouTube alternative), DLive (for live streaming), DMania (for memes) and so many other fundamentally needed platforms built on Steem's blockchain.

Of course, thumbnails are important. The news tags seen on the home page are also important. A good product is important. So, instead of writing "I had a sandwich today," write "I had a sandwich today, that's what it was on, here's how it was done, is where I got it, it's my criticism "etc.
Steemit provides reputation scores so different from those of trolls on Facebook, people are really nice to each other as they would on Steemit since they really have a stake in being a decent person, which is one of the great things about Steemit. One of the things that makes Steemit an incredible community.
Let's replace traditional media and put this product on the market for everyone to enjoy! We must promote this platform because we are on the ground floor of a historic and decentralized movement.
