You've seen Steemit all over the Net. You've seen others earning through it. You instantly got interested. You signed up and created an account. You excitedly wrote your first ever article. You had high hopes that a huge amount of money will soon come your way. You waited. And waited...and waited. Nothing was happening. Finally, after a few days, you got something in your Steemit wallet... Ping! $0.01. And then a frown on your face. The gold you were expecting turned into stone. You were disappointed...in yourself...but most especially, with Steemit. In an instant, you hated it and decided that it is just a waste of time using it--that it is a useless site.
Have you experienced this yourself? Have you felt the same way? Well, I hope not.
In today's modern technology, everybody is spending much of their time online. Most are getting hooked on social media, some are looking for ways to earn and have an income using the advantages of the Internet. And that's when Steemit enters the picture.
Steemit is a wonderful social site, if you were to ask me. A lot better than the other social sites I've tried. Aside from having a new social community to join with, you can share your hobbies, travel experiences, and whatever interests you have. You can also learn a lot from other Steemian's articles--be it in photography, politics, cryptocurrencies and the like. It is a great tool and very useful in terms of honing your blogging/writing skills. It is a good way of sharing your talents and showcasing your creativity. What's more, some may find Steemit a source of income. Kudos to the developers of Steemit!
But wait! Why are some people ranting about Steemit? The answer is simple.
Yes, Steemit may be a good way of having some money. But, if you want to get a regular income, don't rely solely on Steemit. Find a good paying job. If you want to get rich, work hard and work well. Yes too, Steemit can make some people earn huge amount of cash. However, please take note that such Steemians have already so many followers, wrote many blogs/articles...and by that, I mean well written articles and blogs. They deserve every upvote because they put their hearts on what they are writing. For sure, some of them use Steemit because they love writing, they are into blogging, and they like sharing their personal experiences...earning followers and dollars are just a bonus to them because they love what they are doing. Don't expect to earn much from Steemit just by joining it. Do your part, be a Steemian because you want to, because you love writing and sharing your skills, because you love what you do and that contents matter to you.
Readers and followers will know if you are sincere in every article that you write or you are only submitting a story for the sake of earning. So be a Steemian...be a genuine Steemian. Soon enough, without you knowing it, rewards will follow you.

Hello there and thank you for this informative post. I started out in September and my experience was just as you described in your post. I quit. And have regretted it immensely since my second coming. But to motivate me I read an article from a journalist describing their first experience with Steemit for the thirty days after starting out. They had also talked about the number of blog posts, replies, and amount of followers gained per day. Seeing this gave me a clear indication of the amount of blood, sweat, and tears involved. The first month is not fun, not rewarding, and can be downright frustrating. Grinding it out is worth it though. Have fun out there and good luck with your future posts!
Thank you! Glad that you are back here in Steemit! You too, have fun and enjoy being a Steemian. There's so much here than earning. :)
Good article! I only joined Steemit earlier today....but I can already see what a great online community it is!
Thank you! And welcome to Steemit! Hope you enjoy being a Steemian! :)
the money is a bonus not the main reason to be here, showing my photography and sharing knowledge is way more fun then chasing the money.
Good thinking! Sharing what makes you happy is more important than chasing the money. :)
As a newcomer i think the main turn off is the amount of how to make money off Steemit posts. Likely just a growing up phase in the platform over time hopefully the quality content authors and commenters will 'take over'
I so agree! Quality content should be the concern of every Steemian! :)
