in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I want to share with you my experience. Last August 7th, 2017, I receive a private message and I am surprised he is in my friend list. I recommend not to add a person you didn't know because of hacker like him. He sent me a message like you can see on the message below.

Translation
Hacker: (Link for his scam)
Hacker: Is that you in the video?
Hacker: It's trending now
Me: Is this a virus?
Hacker: No
Hacker: Just saw it recently
Me: You're a hacker. I will not open this
Hacker: Huh? (really??)

I want to give you an aware about Social Media Phishing Scam so you cannot lose anything valuable information inside you Facebook or any account, and all the information that your friend sent to you. After I click the link that Hacker sent me you would see this screenshot below.

It seems pretty legit Facebook website, for you to see what he tells me the video that he had seen about me. You must login and put your account. This is where the magic starts if you put your email and password then he got access to your account so don't give him an access to your account. Pity for us if we got scammed of people like him.

What is Social Media Phishing?

Phishing is the process whereby someone attempts to obtain your confidential information, such as your passwords, your credit card, your bank account detail or other information protected by Data Protection Act. Such attempts often referred to as Phishing attacks, are usually primitive and obvious, however, please be aware that they are becoming more sophisticated. The word is a neologism created as a homophone of fishing due to the similarity of using a bait in an attempt to catch a victim. Don’t be fooled.

Conclusion

Be aware of this thing especially if we have money on a digital currency like Bitcoin. He is my friend on my facebook until I blocked him already. I am not aware he is on my friend list. Don't be fooled for attacks like this; however, in the future, I expect it may become harder to see which are phishing. The criminals are doing things that show them that they are legit.
There are many types of phishing according to wikipedia you can check it our here if you want know more of it

Using some security and a password that is long enough that is harder to guess is the thing we need to do. I recommend using also the 2-factor authenticator and phone security. Be careful guys and please stay safe as always.

We need to be aware of this. Always check what the URL address in the browser is. Screen image may be different based on the device you use. If the URL does not start with www.facebook.com, there's a big chance that it's a phishing site.

Good job bro for sharing this information with us.

Thanks brother this is useful information as well

Great post, Everyone should be very careful. Think before you click. Also on search engines there are ads that are phishing sites replicating legit websites especially exchanges like bittrex I read a post here on steemit the other day. He clicked on an ad link on a search engine and unfortunately entered his credentials and 2FA authentication.

unfortunate for that person, so many people are so desperate... take all necessary precautions about it...thanks for this comment

no matter what I will never enter my password on any unknown links.. I wouldn't even bother clicking on any stupid links from someone I personally don't know

good for you, but how about other people... Sharing this blog will definitely help us be aware of this thing

Patay kang hacker ka!!! Kung maibabalik ko lang nakaraan ko, ako ang maghack sa iyo hehehe...

Great post ! Every one should be aware with these kind of stuffs and wont click on any link until you know whats inside other wise you could be hacked easily .

Right, really need to be careful and not just to click links from unknown sources.

We all have to be aware of this. Never Click on a Link in a Email you don't know or download the attachment!
Althought use a Password Safe like KeePass, so if one Account get hacked you have different passwords and don't loose all Accounts.
