[Weekly Report] The Growth Of A Lower Class Minnow. #4

in #steemit6 years ago

Superuser or not? - In terms of MVESTS I am a superuser, even though I'm a small one. I have 2.466 MVESTS and superusers have anything between 1-10 MVESTS. I had 2.364 MVESTS in my last report, so I've been able to grow a litte bit. 0.102 MVESTS to be exact. These sort of reports are supposed to be published once per week, so I'm a few days late with this one.

I Delegate 100% Of My Steem Power

Last Week:

This Week:

The only difference in terms of my delegations are an additional 50 Steem Power to @brandonfrye. Like I've said before, I started to delegate some of my Steem Power to earn a little side-income. Due to some posts from @abh12345, @tarazkp and @tcpolymath, I thought that I'd explain my reasoning behind this decision a little further. A little more in-depth so to speak.

We all know that the trending pages, the rewards, the greed and selfishness on Steemit is bad and lame. We also know that most people seem to be less active due to the decline in value of the currencies. Anyone who've been here for the last few months or so can also see that many Steemians out there have started to ignore and neglect their readers in more ways than one.

They either doesn't respond at all to any of the comments they get, or they only seem to interact with users who can actually give them something in return. In this case, rewards in terms of upvotes. However, most of the "little guys", who actually could support people with $0.02 worth of votes, have decided to not support anyone due to their delegations to bid-bots.

  • And why is that?

People are here to earn. Literally all Steemit promotion that exists are to bring in money-seekers, and even though I talked about this more than a year ago, nothing have changed. YouTubers are promoting Steemit as the "go-to place" if people are looking for a few extra hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month.

They are talking about delegations to bid-bots and to pay for votes. - That's the easiest way to grow and earn on Steemit. There's no question about it.

What all of them seems to ignore or not understand, is the fact that Steemit should be a social platform. It's about interacting with people. It's about sharing and caring. It's about supporting our fellow Steemians.

I have been here for more than 2 years and I have been building my audience ever since I got here. Recently, I've started to stream on @dlive and I do that because I want to build an audience on dlive too. I want to grow, but the difference is that I know that the people matters. I can easily produce whatever shitpost I want and spend money to buy votes and earn... But my audience would get zero value if I did that.

Sure, all of my followers might not be interested in my live streams or in gaming at all, but I still contribute by sharing these thingss and I build my audience and I grow at the same time. - I know that the people should matter, even if they don't seem to do that as it is today.

That being said, I delegate 100% of my Steem Power. I delegate 1000 Steem Power towards the @asapers project and to the people who're directly involved in the project. I also delegate 200 Steem Power to @brandonfrye on top of that to earn something extra.

I know that I will put the extra rewards in good use later on, so I feel okay with my decision. However, I delegate those 200 SP for profit for one reason. So I can maximize the use of my Steem Power even though I have limited time.

I'd rather earn something than nothing, so even profits of 0.050+ makes a difference to me in this case, but people who are active and still contribute regularly on Steemit should keep their Steem Power to themselves instead of going for the passive income that delegations to bid-bots will yield them. The passive income they will earn for such small delegations are nearly nothing and they would do more for the community by keeping it for themselves and use it to curate and support others.

The sad part about this, is that it doesn't really matter... Because Steemit is flawed and have major issues. The social aspect of Steemit has vanished almost entirely and nothing seems to happen to fix this. Sure, we're waiting for communities and SMTs... But we're still just waiting.

And don't take this the wrong way, because I truly believe that we will benefit by these things... But I also believe that these two things are pretty much our last chance to get Steemit in the shape that we want it to be. I want Steemit to be a social platform, but until we see some real changes from any of the officials or until we see some major changes in the big investors approach, there's literally nothing we can do to change things around here.

Content doesn't matter on Steemit. Well, it might matter to some people, but it won't matter much in terms of rewards for the authors. If you want to earn on Steemit, you'll need to use bid-bots... And that's exactly how people are promoting Steemit... And have been promoting Steemit for a very long period of time.

Just look at many of the "top authors" on Steemit. Many of them have been promoting Steemit and many of them have been successful in getting people on board too... But they've done that by showing earnings of hundreds of dollars.

Almost none of them are talking about the social aspect. They are talking about how people should milk Steemit because most people seems to see Steemit as their own personal cash cow... And STINC does nothing about it.

So Am I A Superuser?

Hell yeah. - I don't have any statistics for it, but I'm pretty sure of the fact that there can't be many users out there who're delegating most of their stake to others for free. I would do the same even if I had 10K or 100K as well. Unfortunately for me, and for us, I don't have more than ~1200 SP... But I still delegate 1000 Steem Power to others even though I could definitely use it to maximize my own profits.

I believe I am doing something good and I know that some people like the things I do, but the most important part is, that I feel good about it and I truly believe that I will benefit by doing this in the long run. I also believe that we should leave some milk for others. We should probably even feed the cow so we can get milk in the future as well.

Sort:

I do not delegate but do support as much as I can. here is my breakdown of support.
