I think the unlikely part is to be able to get enough Steem to be considered a whale. Most whales have $100,000+, and unless people manage to get a lot of Steem, I think it's unlikely that many people become whales.

Oh no, I'm far from a whale. The whales are those that give you lots of dollars for a single upvote. Mine are only worth $0.06 :P

Ah i see. Do you get more dollars from upvotes if your SP is high? Or do you only give others more dollars if you have a high SP?
Yes, more SP means more reward for upvoting content. You can use these upvotes on yourself or others, that's all up to you.
