Friends and Family Crypto Starters Guide

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I decided to put together a list of items for friends interested in the Crypto world. It steemed like a good idea to put some of the main ideas in one place for future reference.

Welcome to Crypto but more so welcome to Steemit. This is the new Facebook and Reddit Combined but a decentralized version.

Start

by Reading (or at least skimming) the original Bitcoin white paper- In this market analyzing white papers is an important part of fully assessing what you are investing in

or

Reading through THIS beginners guide.

Major coins are Bitcoin Ethereum LiteCoin

There are 800+ Alt Coins as well
- All of which can be viewed daily at Coinmarketcap

Wallet

where you can store your coins (paper wallet, hardware wallet, software wallet, exchange wallet)

  • Paper wallet-a paper wallet is a document containing all of the data necessary to generate any number of Bitcoin private keys, forming a wallet of keys. However, people often use the term to mean any way of storing bitcoins offline

  • Hardware wallet- Trezor, Ledger Nano s - a hardware device that allows you store your coins offline

  • Software wallet- Exodus, Mycelium - software with the ability to produce and store your private keys on a computer or mobile device

  • Exchange wallet- the wallet containing your funds in an exchange for trading use.

Exchange where you trade/buy coins

To buy Main coins:
To trade main coins for Alt coins:

Daily Information
  • Steemit- important to get an account and participate! This is the future of the internet
  • reddit - still strong source due to volume (Imagine when steemit is reddit size!!)
  • Youtube
  • telegram chats and bots(crytpoping)
    -coindesk

I recommend buying strong innovative coins that you personally feel, after reading the white paper will go the distance and be 'community' builders...With the plan to HODL them long term.

If you want the ability to regularly trade alt coins or even trade main coins it is a good idea to use Coinigy This platform will make trading a lot more seamless, I wish I had started using it earlier.

Lastly: If someone gave you 1 billion dollars or 1million Bitcoin today, what would you do tomorrow?

Best of luck on your road to freedom
