Samsung has just announced its latest Exynos 9610 SoC - it’s part of the Exynos 7 series, which typically powers upper mid-range smartphones such as company's A lineup.

The new Exynos 9610 has an octa-core processor with 4x Cortex-A73 cores running at 2.3GHz and 4x Cortex-A53 ones clocked at 1.6GHz. The GPU in charge of graphics is Mali-G72MP3, a good upgrade over the Mali-G71MP2 in the previous Series 7 chip.

The Exynos 9610 has a new ISP with support for 4K @ 120fps video recording and Full HD @ 480fps slow-mo capturing. A camera coupled with this SoC will be able of stacking images for noise-reduction and better low-light shots. Thanks to a new neural-network engine, it would also detect various scenes and faces and do bokeh effects.

The new SoC is also jam-packed with connectivity with rich LTE network support for up to 600Mbps download with 3-carrier aggregation and up to 150Mbps upload. All modern Wi-Fi standards are supported, as well as Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio, and 4-mode GPS with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo.

The Exynos 9610 is manufactured on Samsung's 10nm FinFET process and will go into mass production in the second half of this year.
