A simple To do List Daily for building up your Steemit account

Anyone that has recommended steps or additional ideas - Please comment on this post to help everyone out.

  1. Upvote- Do at least 20 upvotes a day on various posts. You just go to the main page and click on the topic. Then switch from Trending to New. Scroll down the list to upvote on the ones you find interesting or think will become popular. The key is to WAIT 30 minutes after the post is made.
Everyday you get a certain amount of voting power so you will want to keep it above 80% and you can see your percentage at www.steemd.com/@yourusername

  2. Comment - As you are doing your upvoting, you will find posts that you can add you'll want to add comments on after you have read the articles. Please treat the commenting with respect and don't just go around blasting out general comments all over the place. You can get flagged for spamming.

The goal with comments is actually contributing to the conversation and if you make a comment others like then you can earn upvotes on these comments. How many you do a day is up to you but try to get use to doing a few a day at least.

  3. Submit a Story Daily -Try to commit to submitting an article to your blog everyday. It's not a requirement but try to make it a habit. It can be a little challenging for a lot of people who aren't used to writing to start since it's different than just throwing up simple things on FB or Twitter

The simplest way is to share about your life and especially if you are a creative person that can share photos or interesting stories. Another way is look at what is in the news or trending online. But before your post - search Steemit to make sure it isn't already out there, or if it is then make sure you can improve on it or give new perspectives.

Don't ever just take an article from someone or somewhere to copy & paste it into Steem. They have tools that will detect copied content and you will get flagged. And you will lose reputation. So please be smart and make your on content or write your own version of a story.

You just want to get content out there on a regular basis and think of creative headlines and images that will attract people to click your post. You can find images searching on Google (for exmaple) and you can use this free image hosting site https://postimg.org to get the share urls to enter in your posts. Videos off Youtube are good too and you can just put the video url in the post. Steemit will convert it to a playable video in the post. At the bottom of your post, please make sure you pick related tags but try to get in some popular ones (as long as it is somewhat related).

Do not worry about making money on your posts. A majority of them won't unless you are really putting out some fantastic content that people are loving. But as long as you are consistently putting out content, you will get some people clicking on them that will earn you some Steem dollars.

NOTE: You can do more than one post a day but don't go over 4 a day due to the way the system divides up earnings.

  4. Check Your Awards and Wallet Daily- Look to see what you are earning and if you are geting some Steem dollars come in and still a low level account. It would be very good idea to click on Buy or Sell to convet them to Steem and from there you can us the Power Up option to turn them into Steam Power.

Building up Steam power over time is key to making your account hold more weight when it posts and votes which will further increase your long-term earnings.

Additional Bonus Step - Actually after making friendships or finding authors you like, you will typically visit their sites every day or so to see if they have any new posts. For example, you just go to there site like this. Here is what mine looks like: https://steemit.com/@incomemonthly

The goal of this list to help keep it simple as possible. I've been talking to another of people about Steemit and a lot of them are either confused or overwhelmed on what to do. So I've made this list for them as well as anyone else it can help.

But if you think there are other ideas or more things users can be doing (while keeping it simple) then please share your ideas.

Sort:

The most my upvotes can possibly give me, even on the very best content (I upvote when it has under 5$ at 15 min and it goes to 3000$+) is a couple tenths of a cent. So it really doesn't matter what I upvote, or how high my voting power is.

Comments and writing articles are the only real things I can do here.

I didn't wait 30 mins to vote. Can you explain why one needs to wait 30 mins?

Steem has recently implemented a reverse auction system for curation rewards. See https://steemit.com/steem/@steemship/how-to-vote-smart-and-profit-from-steemit-s-new-curation-rewards for more info.

The Steem power have high influency. I like so many good posts between 15 and 30 min and win nothing because i dont have much sp

You actually introduced me to Steemit and this does really help. I keep making excuses for not doing any articles but I need to dive into this. Hopefully when the weather isn't so nice and I want to be in doors more.... more excuses but it's part of it.

Thank you for this post. I am not sure, but am I supposed to add a pic, or video or something to be able to post. The Post button will not allow me to post my content, and I am trying to get an answer as to how to do it. Thanks...

You do not have to add a pic or video. But it's a good idea if you can.
The problem you are having most likely is not putting any tags in the tag box.
So if your post is about dogs for example you would put one word tags - all lowercase with no spaces - such as

pets dogs cute caring sharing

That's just an eample.

You can also put #dogs in the article and it will just add it to the tags, but 5 tags are the max that are all relating to your post.

Hope this helps

Thank you for this info. I was spacing the tags, but I put a comma after, and it wasnt working, so I fixed it. :D
