as a long term investment you should be looking at 5-10 years. so you need to do research yourself to assess which coin can survive this long, or rank coins by probability that could survive. :) if you plan to speculate, then any coin will do as speculation usually ends up same for all - loss. to sum up, leave it alone if you don't plan to spend significant time for research. otherwise, take sum of money that you can totally lose, put it in a highest survival probability coin and leave it for few years.
