Something For Nothing?

If you are looking for a website that pays you for doing nothing, well then you’re going to be utterly disappointed with all the ponzi schemes and fake websites that promise you a generous bounty just for staying on the site for a determined amount of time or to lure you to make some clicks on ads.
Those types of websites hardly ever “really” pay you for your time and effort. Most of the time they disappear just as fast as they appeared. And, even if you didn’t “invest” out-of-pocket cash into their scheme, they ultimately exit with whatever money they produced with your content, clicks, and time on their website. This has a name. It’s called an “exit-scam”. And if you are one of the millions of people trying to make money on the internet, you may have already been a part of one of them.

The people behind these websites are very business-savvy and know how to get you to become a part of their scheme. They will make you a believer in their "vision" of prosperity for each and every one of the members that join them. They will even get YOU to recruit others and to promote "your business" everywhere you can on the internet and on all of your social media platforms. You will believe that you are doing something good for yourself and for everyone around you. You will even make a little money in the beginning. And then, they vanish!

How Do They Make Money?

Making money on the internet has three basic paths:

  1. Sell a product.
  2. Sell a service.
  3. Sell ads.

Now the first two are pretty straight-forward and easy to figure out; you just need to set up a website where you offer a product or service, generate enough traffic to the website so that you have a number of “leads”, and voila! You have a sale! But to really make money from advertising, you need to set up an eye-catching website, produce loads of original content, generate tons of traffic, and ultimately entice a good percentage of those viewers to click on your content’s algorithm-generated ads. None of those are easy tasks. That's why they need YOU.

Why Do They Need Me?

One simple answer: CONTENT IS KING. Okay, it's a little more complicated than that. But that's what it burns down to; content.

Visiting a website without good content is like buying a book without any words in it. It doesn't make any sense. Good, original content is absolutely necessary for any website or blog who is serious about having, and maintaining, a loyal and recurring base of viewers. Enter new user.

So, even if a user only writes a few sentences describing his or herself, that can boost a particular website's content by adding thousands of paragraphs of text and thousands of fresh, new images fairly quickly.

It's a simple premise: No fresh content --> No recurring traffic --> No recurring income.

What Makes Steemit Different?

If you've ever been on other blog platforms like Blogger, WordPress, etc., you realize (almost right away) that the main monetization technique used on them is Google Adsense. I have nothing against it. I myself have monetized most of my websites through this means. But as more and more people become aware of this type of monetization, they also become wary of it. Most people start to experience "Ad Blindness" or "Banner Blindness"; which is a phenomenon where viewers on a website start to ignore or "block-out" banner ads (either consciously or sub-consciously). This makes website monetization increasingly difficult.

Steemit Is Different

By creating the means to establish an inherent value into the website, the creators of Steemit have produced a social media phenomenon. No weird schemes to follow, no ads to click. Steemit's model of rewarding it's thousands of contributors for fresh, original content has gained widespread popularity among the crypto-community; and the general public is following suit. I mean: Why post for nothing on Blogger, WordPress, or Facebook, if you can get paid for blogging your everyday adventures on Steemit?

Just join, and look around at how other people do it. You will meet and learn from lots of like-minded people who are as awesome as you are. It doesn't matter if you are a full-fledged writer, or just a part-time blogger. We are still basically at the very beginning of this journey. Let's do it together!
