RE: So I'm no prude but......

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Steemit is like a public park. If you take your children out to a park and then see naked people, you might want to go after the naked people, cover your children's eyes (NSFW tag), or maybe leave. I am not actually sure what to say. But the internet and websites like Facebook, Steemit, or others, can have these problems or whatever that they might be.
.
It is a question of do we censor and how do we censor and who decides what is censored and when and where and how and why and everything...... I am thinking that maybe children under 18 or 25 should not go on the internet or should not go everywhere or too many places until they are old enough maybe..... because the internet is like a cafe that is next door to some kind of porn bar or something..... and when you take kids to the internet, it is like giving your kids keys to your car.... it is like giving your kids a gun..... it might be dangerous..... kids can Google anything including porn at any time...

I've always held the view that the Internet (Let's leave Steemit Et Al to one side for the minute) is like the Wild West. As I said, I'm not keen on censorship but given Steemit like any relationship needs to start off on the right foot otherwise later on down the line it will be very had to change an established behaviour.
