There isn't really a company. Its sort of decentralized if I am understanding correctly. The decisions are made by a vote or something like that. I'm sure someone who knows more will chime in shortly.

Thanks, it does seem that way, and based on how the crypto industry has been working, everything that runs off of the same algorithms are decentralized. I hope someone is working on the front and back end of the website though, specifically the community building and social features of the site (based only on the fact that the website is in beta..).
My biggest issue with Steemit is that as the community grows, it will be come harder and harder for new members to break into the ecosystem without getting drowned out. Even at this point, with the amount of posts being pushed per minute, if you do not have a large following base then your posts will go unseen. The other issue is your "blog" is shown as a timeline of posts, making it nearly impossible for people to see what you have written or posted in the past. I think the community as a whole is going to be severely limited until some of the more prominent issues surrounding sharing and growing your own portfolio are solved.
