Bitcoin Exchange Hacked - Steemit Users Not Affected

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

I heard Bitfinex lost about $72,000,000 worth of BTC today, so I head over to CMC...

As a Mt. Gox creditor I sympathize deeply with the Bitfinex account holders; as a long-time Bitcoin investor I've been on this ride a few times. But as a Steemian it feels so good to just... Steem On!

;D

On a more serious note, the significance of STEEM being decoupled from the top 20 crypto-assets cannot be understated. It shows the crypto-lords that control the vast majority of crypto-wealth have not yet been able to acquire a substantial stake in STEEM. I've been in crypto since the early days and can tell you crypto markets are far more centralized and manipulated than the fiat markets, which are themselves a complete sham.

Only time will tell whether Steemit remains resistant to market manipulation. But from where I'm standing it looks like the devs have nailed it and Steem Power is working as designed. Just another little win to add to the growing list of reasons why Steemit is going to be a game changer.

You beat me by about 12 minutes. I was going to post this with the caption "Steem is the Green in a Sea of Red"

The red is uninterrupted all the way down to number 23. ..except by Steem of course.

Great minds think alike! Your title is way better though... if you post I'll upvote!

Thanks for the offer. You are a gentleman. I did not see your response until now (20 hours after you replied) and there's now green all over coinmaketcap. Meanwhile, thank you for upvoting my other post ( https://steemit.com/life/@revulv/3-bankers-just-jailed-in-ireland-over-2008-crisis )

I haven't been goxed or bitfinexed but I have been cryptsied! And all my sympathies go to the victims. A sigh of relief though that this is not poloniex!

Ha, seems like everyone in crypto has a few war stories. It's like the wild west right now..

More users + More trust + Stable pricing = More Green Bars!

Yes... well that and Steem Power's two year withdrawal period keeping people from panic-dumping. Cheers!

Well, I guess that says a lot about academic journals...

I have this feeling you are a bot. But if so, you are a nice bot that says nice things. So thank you!
