Your proposal of distribution of the prizes seems to me very successful, and also equitable, I believe that the participation would be very good on the part of great amount of users.

Now, having a specific budget of 300 steem and waiting for a participation of about 50 users, I could consider the following distribution:

Particularly I consider that it is difficult for everyone who participates to be satisfied, because the majority who do it will want to win and by not doing so, there will be incorfinity.

Like every act that is made public, it is subject to criticism.
Then it would give 3 big prizes, could be 50 to the first place, 30 to the second and 20 to the third.
by participation would generate one of 2 steem to each participant, a little to assess the time invested.

It would also offer 10 special prizes of 5 steem.

I would ask the Participants to value the other participants with votes, after reading their participation, that would help to make it more participatory.

I think that would be my proposal, everyone benefits, there are special prizes, and in addition to awarding winners.

In spite of that, there will always be someone dissatisfied.
