Come and explore my foodie adventure at my go-to-spot in the area. Once a month I get my sushi fixed at this local spot 👉🏻 Sushi Ichi. It’s a MUST to try their omakase and here is the reason why.
First, it’s an authentic Japanese restaurant. The chef only spoke Japanese and continue to carry the execution of being a “itamae”. What is a itamae? It is a cook/chef, translating “in front of the board” also referring to “cutting board”. Itamae must prove they are worthy of the name by following these criteria:
How he handles the food;
How he handles his food utensils (basically his knives);
How he treats his clients and
How he behaves, moves and works.
A great itamae, will reflect the cut of the fish. 😋
Just look at these beautiful cut, each sushi is perfectly handled and displayed.
From the left to right: Seabream, Skipjack, Amberjack, Sweet Shrimp, and Yellowtail.
Second, the quality and freshness of the fish was just lovely. When it comes to sushi and sashimi, the fresher the fish the better it taste! Each sushi
piece all have their unique taste, with the sauce and toppings made it just right.
My absolute favorite dish of the night was their scallop sashimi special top with a dime of Yuzu sauce. Each perfect cut slice was amazing, I mean AMAZING!!!! I can not express how delicious it was... all I know is that I just want to order 3 plate of it when I come back! 😋💦
Another great special was their sea snail 🐌, yes their snail. It was hot steamed, chopped with a tasteful sweet soysauce/ponzu soup in a snail shell on salt. Don’t be afraid to try it, it was actually very nice.
With sweet shrimp sushi, they would fried the head and serve you it as a good treat.
Third, when you order the omakase the price is base on the portion of how much plate of sushi you want to enjoy. Most of the time, three sushi plate will definitely be a good amount of food.
The price per a person is around a bill for 3 round including the chef specials. I totally think it is a deal, compare to other high end sushi restaurants. I had omakase at other sushi spot with a 200-250 price tag per a person and their omakase wasn’t that great. That’s why I really like Sushi Ichi for their affordable omakase. And the fact that their style is more old fashion with lots of sushi/sashimi. 🐠🐟🦐🦀🦑🐙🐌
Fourth, I definitely enjoy their excellent service every time. It’s a family owned sushi restaurant, their hard work totally reflect toward their customers. So when I crave for some great sushi, I go there. They know who we are, especially we’re regular there. 😃 👍🏼
From left to right: Halibut, Albacore, Uni, Snowcrab, gaint clam, and Toro.
Fresh marinated salmon egg sushi, Mantu shrimp, and Aji - Spanish Mackerel.
Had to tap out early, after the 2nd plate I was already stuffed. I’ll be back there sooner than later. 😝
What can I say...
I highly recommend a good restaurant that serve fresh sushi, with an affordable price but remember “you pay for what you get”. Just keep in mind, a great restaurant environment is always a plus plus. 👍🏼
