How To Successfully Be A Newbie Minnow on Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago

Before you start blasting away spamming posts all day -

#1 - Follow Everyone!!! Including me!

It is probably the most important thing on Steemit and the common approach is this:

#2 - Comment on EVERYTHING!!!

Commenting on others postings is the best way to get recognized, and consecutive commenting on the same user will most likely get you Remembered or Followed
For the most part, No body is going to read your posting when you are new. It's a hard truth but basically NOBODY gives 2 Shits how cool you think you are.

So instead of hoping they come read your crap.... Go to them and make a comment on there crap

#3 - Find a Community!

Communities support eachother on Steemit and you can find your interests might be interesting to others in certain communities. It's a fairly fast way to gain supporters and ultimately...... Real Upvotes for your posts

#4 - Have Fun & Stay Cool

Most users get frustrated right away and quit. That's because they want there posts to directly get recognized without putting in the effort to get themselves recognized. Then they decide to bitch on a post, which no body will read anyways.... then they quit.
Find a way to NOT have money as your top priority and have fun. The cash will come when you build up your presence!

The best approach is to First make an Introduction Post and then go on a follow and commenting rampage until you break at least 200-300 followers before you even consider writing another posting....

Excellent tips to start on steemit. I would just add that you do not need to comment on all posts, you need to comment honestly, because people then want to follow you and vote on your post.

Awesome Post. Keep it up.

I disagree with the first one... Don't follow everyone... follow people you want to follow only... The less people you have on your feed the more posts you see of each one of them...

When someone follows me and follows +1000 someone else then I'll be sure that my posts won't be in their feed, so why bother? did I gain something other than the number of followers going up?! this number doesn't mean anything....

For people like me, seeing "I Follow Back" is one of the things that make me hesitate to follow someone... following should be something that you voluntarily do when you read interesting things.

Oh!! and for Comment on EVERYTHING!!!

you should mention that your comment must add value to the conversation too...

I'll be glad if someone just said "great article" to my post but that adds no value and If I check his recent comments and found that he says that to everyone... without adding any value to anyone? I'll be mad!!

i agree with your opinion

nice post!

Thank you I just found out about the #minnowsunite hashtag and I am searching as well as following lots of people it does get a little frustrating but that's just part of being new and learning. I haven't really found a favorite topic but it is fun experiencing all this for sure. I have followed you and up voted thanks for your time.

Solid tips...many thanks.
