How long does it take to get approved to Steemit?
This is the question I typed into google a few hours after registering. I had received the email thanking me for confirming my email, everything had moved quite smoothly up to then. Choose my user name, entered my phone number. Then everything grind to a halt and I begin the waiting game, that so many before me have had to suffer.
I confirmed my email Friday 26th May 13:21. 24 hours on still waiting and now writing my post ready to share once I get in.
The sad thing is I am reading loads of other people's post on this subject, but without an account I am unable to 'upvote' them. Once I am in the people who will probably read this post will also be people with no account yet, sat searching for reassurance that it is just a waiting game and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. So won't be able to 'upvote' me, and help my $ rise, or whatever the system is to show that my post are read and liked.
Suppose I will read some more posts on the subject, that I won't be able 'upvote' on, some on the subject of getting in, others on how I will rise up this pyramid and get a following.

Update 48 hours and still not in, but still keeping my diary so I can post when I finally get in.
Been using my time wisely. Bit of home improvement (see introduction post) and researching this new world called 'Steemit'. Been reading lot of post trying to get my head round how it works and how money is magically created from thin air.
Becoming a bit annoying now, every ping of phone sparks my hopes that Steemit has finally gotten to my request; only to find it's just my sister posting another picture of her kids to Facebook.
Decided best to just keep writing post while I am still enthusiastic about this new idea. So when I am finally in I have something to post.

Update 72 hours and still not in. This could be due to the fact I applied on a Friday and the weekend has slowed everything down.
Found a very interested YouTube video this morning during my research https://steemit.com/@pressfortruth. Watching this along with the reading I have done is making me get more eager to get in. Seems this is the social media platform I have been looking for to share my creative writing. Let me in!!!

Update 96 hours.
Tuesday lunchtime and still not in. Getting to the point where I am worried I have been declined for some reason and I can feel my enthusiasm dwindling. Think I stop writing this diary and go back to writing my book.

Update 144 hours
Thursday nearly a week since I asked to join and still not in. Found this link this morning.
https://www.steemithelp.net/#/logging-in/
Seems my wait is not unusual, as it says some people might be wait over a week to get accepted.

174 hours (1 week, 6 hours)
Finally got the email (18:58) to say I have been accepted. I am in and have made my first post https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@kathieletalis/just-wanted-to-say-hello
Think Steemit really needs to sort their system of approving people to their site. 7 days I think it's fair to say is rather slow. Although I did read the other day that if I had used the AnonSteem service then I could have got in instantly and it would have only cost me a bit of money.
Anyway I am in and I hope this post gives people out there, who are still waiting for the confirmation email, hope that if they just sit tight approval is only a week away. ;)
xxx Kathie
PS
Please comment below to say how long it took you to get approved. Give the awaiting members who might find this post a bit of hope that if they sit tight it is worth playing the Steemit waiting game.
my account took just under 22 hours. Approval was on 12/18/2017.
i am also waiting for the approval of my new steemit account…… •ᴗ•
to every new steemit friend, after you have earned steem and sbd, you will, of course, want to withdraw your earnings. in case you do not how to do with it, just read my experiences, I will keep these articles updated in my websites:
How to withdraw the money you earn at Steemit into USD in your PayPal or bank card?
The Tools I Am Using to Withdraw Steemit Money into PayPal
How to Buy Bitcoin via PayPal?
As soon as i filled my application I became worried of how long this process would take. Of course a quick search on google led me to this post as well as several others. I was never really worried about getting accepted or not but I did submit on a Friday and it seems several people had long waits due to this. I am glad to report, however, that before i got through reading this post/diary, my application had been approved and it only took about 15 minutes. Hope you all have as good an experience as this.
Thanks for the article. It was reassuring.
I finally got approved after 27 hours.
Slight typo at the top where it says 26th June i think :) But yeah the new verification process seems to take a couple of days right now. Not sure what it entails... maybe a manual check of the applicant's profile?
Thank you for pointing that out. Edited and all sorted :)
It took me about three hours but I've seen a number of people mentioning multiple days.
Wow lucky you.
After waiting nearly a week I did find out I could have fast tracked my application if I had used the 'AnonSteem service' .
That was my experience dear. who else had this same experienced? please indicate
Annoying, but at least we are in now. :)
Wow, had no idea that now it's so complicated:)
I think it's due to 'Steemit has recently implemented a new procedure for account registrations.'
Seems it a very slow procedure.
My girlfriend registered over a week ago, and still hasn't been approved. Just playing the waiting game...
Hope she gets in soon. As I said above it took me 1 week and 6 hours to get in, so hopefully her wait is nearly over. :)
Sweet! This article helped a lot. AnonSteem is pretty nifty. ;)
Hey, logged in just to write a huge thank you and that I appreciate this post (kept my spirits up, haha). I just got approved after ~48 hours. Good luck everyone, you'll get approved too!
Thanks for posting this--it primed me to be willing to wait after registering.
Luckily, I didn't have to wait too long. I registered at 9:40 PM EST on June 20, and was confirmed at 10:00 AM on June 21.
12 hours wasn't bad at all. Stoked to get started.
My account was just approved in 24 hours, but i think some wait time is good for Steemit. It will discourage bots and spammers.
You are probably right.
Welcome to the steemit community.
It took just less than 3 days for my account to get approved. I registered on Tuesday afternoon and was approved on Friday morning.
I was approved pretty instantly in Aug 2016 but it took me a year and a half to realize I wanted to be here.
For me it took EXACTLY 2 weeks.
They seem to be completely overrun with new users.
About time for a new onboarding system.
To any new users (I also found this post back then):
They will approve you, just as you start thinking something might have gone wrong with your application.
