Yeah, being new sucks. I'm here for 6 months and with almost 500 followers. I still struggle to earn some up-votes.
Usually the best thing for new users is to engage with the community and to write a lot of comments ( hence why I posted over 1400 comments here).
As a new user, comments will get you far, far more than most of your posts. Unless you are incredible lucky and some whale up-votes your post.
Hint:most users don't like upvote begging. And it feels cheap to upvote someone who just asks for it. While their are literary thousands of writers. Who put great deal into their articles. Hoping to earn some spare cash.
That's why I out of principe, don't upvote posts that are soley created to ask for upvotes.
