I've been on Steemit for over a year now, And I've been annoying my family like crazy to join Steemit. Finally, it's starting to happen.
My brother's girlfriend Trisha Who is @Treeshaface joined first.
I Was surprised how open and excited she was about Steemit!
I also got @lauralemons To join! She's easily the most active person I got on here! Laura Is a long time internet friend that I've had. We met each other online through our art!
My sister joined a while ago But hasn't written yet, unfortunately. She's scared to start writing (Perfectionism at play!)
My Brothers Best Friend Scott also joined. His username is @sjensen
My Brother Wrote His Intro Post Today!
And Now my brother Mike! Also joined. He actually wrote his first intro post today, If you want to help him out :) @woundedknee
Lots of my Facebook Friends Also Joined!
I am trying to get them to post more! But it's amazing getting some of my old school pals, Fellow coloring book artists, And colorists all to join Steemit!
My boyfriend @mahikaru Joined.
Some other people I helped get on the platform:
@lovewild @terishermansart @Anxietygirl @Badxwolff @Mystina83
@Artsygoddess (I can't take credit for this one)
There are other people as well, But I don't have their usernames. Sometimes they don't ask for my vote Or send me their posts. So It's hard to know exactly how many people joined from my relentless posting on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. As well as mentioning Steemit On Instagram.
The Hardest Part
I'm finding that it's really hard for Steemit to "Stick" on people. I get people to sign up, And they don't write, Or they only write a couple of posts.
The whole blogging thing seems intimidating for them. Which hopefully we can figure out a way to make it less scary? I'm still promoting Steemit in everyway that I can! Hopefully I can later get hundreds or thousands of people to join later on.
Everytime I post, I still get a little nervous. I'm afraid something in my post won't sit right with people, That I may mess up my words and write something offensive. I feel like that fear resides with many of us here on Steemit, But we have to ignore it and take the risk. Luckily Steemit has the nicest community ever! I feel like so many of us are understanding and down to earth! I wish people weren't so afraid to post!
Thanks lin!! I love this post!!
Finally.
You can create a new group to support each other so they would at least have one post a day.
Like you said, some of them didnt even ask your vote or help. Maybe they dont really start it yet.
You could gather them all like a tiny steemfest on the weekend and motivate them by voting each other for starter.
Don't be nervous, just be real and let people sort themselves out if they don't like what you post! Keep annoying the world one person at a time! Those that mind don't matter and those that matter won't mind!
Agreed completely! Being real is easier anyways :)
Right? So True! Hehehe
LOL You referenced my shirt XD hahahah you are amazing!
I told you they crack me up!
you are so right about family! following you now... ;-)
That is really a very good news and congratulations to you for achieving so much here. We all know that it means a lot and I personally feel that it's going to take forever for me to gain so much reputation here. I'm new here and am really worried what will happen next. By the way, congratulations. Happy for you.
This is all fantastic news! I have an idea for you and yours.
I played with the Steepshot phone app one day. Since I'm far from being a woman of few words, I found the app frustrating because it only posts one photo and the Title field. And I used the Commenting section to my advantage.
Today I saw someone post a title that was more like an informational tweet when he used Steepshot.
Soooo it might serve as a gateway app to help your more shy friends and family,
Congrats on bringing in companions!
Wow really I'll look into that! Thank you .
You're welcome!
To me, it seems Steemit.com can be persnickety about displaying jpg as thumbs. I've taken to using an image converter app also. There's several available.
The app I have also allows me to reduce the image size and do quick, fast crop and rotate.
I use the converter for all posting from the cell phone, actually.
Enjoy have fun
wow, seems like you had a hard time convincing people to sign up on Steem. Love what you are doing. Followed!
Good for you. The more people we get on here that can post the better. I guess it is scary for beginners to post. I know I was. Then I let my cousin read what I been posting and she really liked it. Well if my cousin wants more than I would try to give her more. After everything I blog I email her the link. Maybe we just need someone that encourages us to write more. Well it worked for me.
Hey @kaylinart , I totally get you ! I've got a few friends who joined ... did 1 or 2 posts ... got caught by Cheetah (lol) and went back to Facebook because they didn't place the efforts of engaging. Sooner or later they'll come around ... I kinda want to buy a hat or a t-shirt that says "I TOLD YOU SO" . Cheers and always great to read your posts.
Congratulations on hitting Level 73 :) The only other platform I see this being similar to is YouNow (I use that for livestreaming). The first 30 levels were easy, and then level 40+ became so difficult. Here it's like once you get to the 60s I'm guessing it takes an insane amount of rep from whales to move up. But that's good! 73 will definitely help out. Also fantastic to get family to join, the word of mouth is helping the app and everybody big time. I'm excited for the community to hit 1m+ next year!
They are related to an awesome author! Glad to heart that!
It's a steemageedon taking over! I'm finally getting some friends to join as well. It seems my poetry and art friends are the easiest to convert. There is a large community for that here.
Right? I feel like those people may be more open minded. And like you said already a community.
As I continue to post my financial and real estate stuff.....sigh lol. The irony is I just posted a real estate post right before I commented to you about the art community....lmao!
hahah Wow!! Thats cool that you have a variety of friends though.
Well, I did write poetry for 10 years :-) AND THANK YOU for the randowhale!
No one has ever done that for me before!
I am so glad you recommended Steemit to your friends and family and now you have them on here with you!
I completely understand your sister's hesitatation; I overthink everything that I write, lol.
You're right, you just have to take the risk and just post it!
That's awesome.. if we a only got a few people each im sure it would multiply quickly!
Looks to me your loving Steemit ;)
Great post! I feel you in a way... sometimes takes time for our friends and fam to realize the potential of Steemit. At the beginning they might see it as just another social media, and pay little to no attention. But persistency gives the sweetest fruits. I kept telling over and over again, look this community really is awesome, no haters, no aggression... just pure kindness.
Glad that you never gave up and finally brought them this way. Well done!
Lovely post btw
Steemit is moving like wildfire!
Steemit is family and friends!
Congrats on your achievements @kaylinart
Great post thank you for sharing you have my up vote . And congratulations forgetting your family involved @mannyfig1956
We need more people in the community !
The Steemit community will most likely hit 600K by the end of the year (for registered accounts) if not 700,000 possibly. That's amazing news ;) definitely an exciting future up ahead!
Thanks for sharing!
I myself just joined and am also a little hesitating to write my first article. reading article's like yours make me want to start writing and sharing !!!
I tell people about it and tell them to sign up, I first got my god mother to sign up, she has only commented and resteemed so far she goes by @ainsleyjo1952 got my husband (@tecnoblast) to sign up the other day working on my kids. My oldest signed up but is waiting to get approved. I am sure I am getting annoying about it but I don't care. I love this site, and if you got time for Facebook you got time for steemit.
Yes! "ignore it and take the risk"!!
Glad you got the fam involved
Good for you, I hope the stick around a while. Thanks
awesome, you're building a community here and that's awesome :)
that's great networking right there
I has upvoted you and followed you. I supported you. I hope also you support and help me by upvote me
I actually gave mike a comment before this post even came up :D
YAY! I'm glad hehe thank you .
I gotta get to your level! Congrats on the success!
Invite the whole family! YAY!
EXACTLY heheh! LETS INVITE THE WHOLE WORLD LOL.
I like where we are going with this HAHA!
YES!!
Great plan! Steem on ;)
wow.... very nice and very amazing. I liket it. it's nice post very nice
Thank you : )
thank again, my freind
Congrats girl, if ever I believed the impossible is possible!
Thanks hehe
Good work Ye it's hard explaining to people what exactly it is and how it works. I'm still learning
Right? I don't even know all the technical stuff yet LOL. I just do the best that I can.
why does it strictly have to be "blogging"
It has so much more potential than that. I have seen beautiful photographs, poetry, even funny youtube clips ! I treat it like my facebook.. isn't that ok?
Ooo going to have to check them out! Must be cool if they are related to you! ❤
Aww you are so sweet!! You should hehe :)
Steemit brings people closer
right!
Thanks for sharing the platform with them! I gave them follows. I have been inviting friends and family too! It's great to see what they will contribute to STEEM!
I got 2 of my friends on here after working on them for a couple weeks! The Steemit Community is So Supportive as you state in this post, which gives me the motivation to try my best even though my blogging skills need major Improvements! Great Post as Usual @kaylinart
Awesome! u'v done a great job, I think I'll introduce you to my family as well ☺
THank you :) LOLLOL Yes please hahah! I'll meet your family.
@kaylinart, I find it difficult to explain to people why I am spending some much time on Steemit, especially people that are closest to me.
Great job communicating with your family about Steemit so that they are not only comfortable with you using it, but making a decision to try it as well.
Oh man! Well I feel good about getting my dad to join steemit in just a week, although somehow he adopts new things even before I do usually...now I just hope it doesn't take me a whole year to get the rest of my family to join.
I find the same problem you do with getting Steemit to "stick" with people, I have had several sign up so far, but they haven't been active at all. The best comparison I have tried to give people for starting to blog on Steemit is, that it is like getting into a swimming pool. The water is cold at first so you don't want to go all the way in, but once you are completely in you never want to get out!
I feel small 😀 you've already managed to get so many people on here. I've been trying to get my family here too, and I'm still working on that. But I know that my experiences on here will definitely speak for themselves and they will eventually join. It feels like they're waiting to see how it goes (a thing they'll regret in the future😢)
Great work! I'll definitely speak about Steemit to the people around me... And when I'm no longer single, my girlfriend will definitely be on Steemit. 😁
@imwatsi ~ I write poems
ah didn't realize you were the one who convinced @lauralemons to come over to STEEMIT, very cool! :) and man, first tornadoes... now watch out for that mini tsunami headed your way! hopefully, that really cool looking rock structure should be high enough to wait it out, so long as the tornado doesn't stop by at the same time! lol
So happy for you! I hope to recruit mine!
Heheh Do it!
Working on Sis, but she's just opened a new health food blog so she's swamped. 😕
The quality of my upvote is so small at present I wouldnt insult ur fab post with it hahahha x ive been telling all I can too and its like as though they have a mental block to it!! Theyre still on facebook wasting precious steemit time ahaha :) ..
But when u do take the steemit plunge oh my gosh how addictive is this place xD
Nice to hear that it's a family affair now on Steemit - big props for bringing everyone over to the good side!
I can definitely understand that writing on a public platform like Steemit can be a little intimidating at first, but like any new experience in life, it gets better and more easier with more practice. Practice definitely makes it perfect!
Even I initially started by commenting, then blogging a little and now I even started my own fiction series today and I'm hoping to frequently post each chapter (depending on how much time I have left over from work).
Thanks for sharing @kaylinart!
I can't imagine how you'd offend any reader, you write very well. Congrats on your milestones!
I'm very glad you've gotten me and Mike into steemit! It may help us get our own home one day. While we can also write what we love and read about others experiences and stories,
Amazing, I've been telling others and nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about, I'm trying to predict what year friends and family will all join Steemit. Fingers crossed.
Keep spreading the words for a better Steemit.
Gratulations, you made it! The term "steemit family" gets new meaning with your efforts.
