1. Make it obvious that your a REAL person and not catfishing us

Your first post on steemit should be your introduction post. This helps other users to see that you are infact a real human and not a bot.

You should take a picture of yourself holding a piece of paper, the paper should show the word steemit and your user name and date.
Most users who follow this precedure gain more attention and then potentially more revenue.

2. Unique content is where it's at

The thing is that we want unique content. You can't get away with any copying and pasting or garbage PLR. And we really HATE plagiarism. You MUST credit your sources if you want to succeed on this site.

There is a bot that identifies that stuff and "downvotes" it, making it pretty much worthless.

However, you can make money with anything unique. I've seen people making hundreds from posting a simple poem or recipe or even just a bunch of images from a recent vacation they took.

In other words, if you are going to be lazy then SteemIt is not the place for you to expect to earn income.

3. Make your upvote count

The arrow sign is upvote sign. If you are not a content creator you can earn by upvoting for a post . Yes you are paid for just clicking on that sign.

When you upvote the author earns some steem - the cryptocurrency of steemit- and some steem power and steem dollars , not just the author but the upvoter also earns some percentage for upvoting it.
Now you can be both a curator and content creator and that is very much recommended after all steemit is a community, people read and others view and share their views. You only have around 40 upvotes in a 24 hour period before the power of your upvote goes down. So use it wisely! You can check your upvote power anytime by simply by going to www.steemd.com/@username (replace username with the actual username of the account you want to see)

Saving this article for later

Here's a question, I've written a quick article introducing myself with a couple pictures of me included. Should I also include a picture somewhere of myself on Steemit with a date stamp, or should I continue on as normal?

No problem! I would do another post with a picture and a date stamp...there's nothing wrong with that. Use the tags introduceyourself & introduce

Love these helpful posts, keep them going.
Upvoted and following.

Thank you very much for the tips! I was wondering how the votes were done and such and never even knew there were limits to it even.
