Having a part-time job has always been on my mind even though I already have a full-time job. Although I was promoted, the money I earn as a Research Assistant is not enough for a family of seven, including my grandmother. I couldn't save money for my Licensure Board Exam for Electronics Engineer, paying debts acquired when I was doing my expensive Thesis, and also, I couldn't afford some stuff like treating my loved ones to a fancy restaurant, buy new clothes for them, and for myself and such. But, working with three different employers in an online job was very exhausting.
After my 8-hour duty in the university, I only had a one hour break then proceed to my 4-hour duty every weekday and then write 15 articles every weekend that is due every Wednesday, sometimes Thursday. As soon as the contract ended, I decided not to re-apply again and then I entered the world of business but it's not that easy. Then it was on October, 3 months after I stopped working online, that I went to a blogging site and another blogging site, Steemit, and stayed there until the very now.
Where, Who and How?
I bumped to Bitlanders, the first blogging site I ran into, because of my sister who has a friend from there too. I introduced it to my best friend but unfortunately, I wasn't that active unlike her. A month after, she messaged me that she saw the conversation of @junebride, @g1o, and @long888 in the comment section about to the other blogging site, Steemit. She instructed me to read the FAQs. She decided to sign up first and a few days later, I signed up too.
First Month
It took me a week after the confirmation to post something. It was very confusing, even the basic what, where, how and why of Steemit and cryptocurrency is confusing. There were only two words that were crystal clear to me, post high-quality blogs and give a comment sincerely and heartily like I am writing a love letter.
My first month was all about learning the basic.
- What is Steem Dollars, Steem, and Steem Power?
- How do I earn a lot?
- What is Voting Power and Voting Weight?
- What tags to be used?
My first curated post
Deeday and I were quite shy to approach the three from Bitlanders, so, we tried to adapt and survive. However, @g10 messaged me first and told me to join @steemitachievers. The group at that time were composed of not more than 15 members including Deeday and I. The group helped me a lot especially @birjudanak and I'm very grateful to them for imparting their knowledge to me.
With that, I was able to attract Sir Terry @surpassinggoogle attention, The Untalented Series, and also, Curie @curie attention. Yes, I was curated for the very first time and I was like, "Senpai noticed me!". It was very fulfilling and boosted my confidence that I can write well and I may be able to succeed here in Steemit.

Second Month
My second month was all about hitting two birds with one stone. I joined an essay, comment writing, and poetry contest and that time, @long888 hosted a 2000-Word Writing Contest with a travel theme. I wrote about my Siquijor Escapade and told myself that I should be curated once more. I wanted to post it at the same time I posted my first curated post, around 7 in the evening. However, I was able to post it one minute before the said deadline, so, my target changed that I must win the contest instead. Fortunately, Curie saw my post and got curated again and I got the second place too.

Third Month
My third month was all about poetry. I wrote poems when I was in high school and stopped it in college because Mathematics and Electronics consumed me. My first poem in Steemit was written on my second-month stay, however, I was disappointed because others wrote their poem really well. But, Deeday told me to continue to write and attempted to write again after 2 weeks. My mindset was to write poems as many as I can that it would be enough to compile and bind it in the near future. I changed my goal for me to be a better writer and surprisingly, I won the first place of @terrycraft's Steemit Poetry Contest. I was shocked (please read it as shookt! HAHA) that I was leaping like a kangaroo on my way to our office. That was then my motivation to continue in writing poems. Also, in that month, I had my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cashout. It became an addition to my motivation to do my best and become the better version of my yesterday self.
One of my biggest achievements
Fourth up to the Present Month
And since I already received an unexpected amount in Steemit, the next 2 months was all about giving back and sharing to fellow Steemians what Steemit has given to me. First, I made a raffle draw and then Deeday and I hosted a poetry-art contest. We decided to have a collaboration in which every 1st and 2nd week of the month, I will be the host and the last 2 weeks of the month, she's the host. Our money was not enough so we ended it after 2 months. Aside from giving back, we made sure that we made our entry poem for the theme of the week and drew a header image related to the poem we wrote. More like the 4th and 5th month was all about poetry, art, and hosting a contest.
After that, I continued in challenging myself on making poems, art, joining writing contest and sharing some random stuff about my life. Lately, I just shared about my Grandma's situation and it made me think that Steemit has been one of the best gifts that I have received. People are kind and generous. Even if they didn't know me they still helped me and gave encouraging words. Bayanihan, uniting to help the people in need, exists in Steemit.

Will never forget your kindess!
It really helped a lot financially, made me checked some things on my bucket list, socially, made me interact and make friends globally, and also, I was able to pull myself back like I was in High School and enhance the talent that God has given me and share it to others.
To ride an airplane.
To attend my favorite Japanese Rock Band concert in Manila, PH
Also starting on the month of January, I started to share with my fellow dance group members, classmates, and my other friends about Steemit. I want them to earn just like I do and to improve themselves more. Thinking it made me realize that I've recruited almost as many as the last number that you can see on the calendar. Whenever they had their first cashout, it made me happy and proud that they are doing well and never given up here in Steemit. Well, I couldn't do this without the help of those who helped me when I was still a newbie.
Lately, my earnings were low and I could not post blog thrice in a day and every day because of my busy schedule. My worries in life made my mind not to function well for almost 2 months. I just recently gathered myself when I went to a bookstore.
A library and a bookstore are my healing place and book is my time turner.
I may be back to what a newbie is like, zero voting value because I decided to power down for my grandma's operation, but still, I will continue to post something that is worthy to read. I've already had my cashout more than 10 times, and so, sulking in the four corners and giving up is unnecessary when Steemit and other Steemians are that good and kind to me.
Poem I wrote dedicated to Steemit.
My Steemit Experience is like a Sinusoidal Wave, started from zero and climbed up and had a downhill experience. My earnings may increase or decrease, my momentum might fluctuate, but still, I will continue to post and share in this blockchain to learn and to earn at the same time.
