Hello Students!
Welcome to another lesson on Steemit Basics.
We had some technological difficulties, so I stopped recording and then started again. Below are the two video records of the show. I shared my screen at times to show all I was chatting about. Also, below are some of my notes for those of you that weren't paying attention.
The Recording!
Random side note:
Someone asked about bandwidth and I ended the recording before answering. Here is a post called, Steem Bandwidth - User Experience Issue that helps explain it. @drakos also hopped on air with me and shared some helpful information. He wrote a post called, Witness Tips - Efficient Management that is really insightful into witness do’s and don’t’s. During the show I mentioned the following sites to check dead followers, free banners, and moving banners. Steemnow.com is a website I check almost hourly. I also remind folks about Steemit’s FAQ and steemd.com for behind-the-scenes looks.
The Notes!
Demonstrated and explained where to find your wallets, when your payout is, how to post, how to follow, and why you should comment.
Your wallet is where all $$$ goes
Every 7 days your post, comments, and curation rewards are processed and accumulated in your wallet.
You’re paid in Steem Power and SBD
You can trade steem for other coins or fiat money. We will be making a post about other wallets and trading soon. Stay tune for that class!
Follow people that share similar interests
Followers that become readers that become commenters who then become upvoters. Not always in that order, but sometimes in that order. Lead by example and find people you find interesting to follow. Learning to engage with other members is the best way to grow in steem power.
Comment on posts that you enjoyed reading
Sometime you read a post and find it great, or interesting, but leaving a simple comment like that is frown upon. Leave a comment that impresses the writer so much they upvote your comment and maybe even check out your blog.
Comment on people that upvote for free and often
Some of the writers that receive 50+ comments and reward those that comments with upvotes. I make more of an effort to comment on post of writers that upvote. You should too!
BE careful not to be flagged or downvoted by spamming
Asking others to review your writing, to check our your post, to follow/upvote in return, are easy ways to find a flag. Don't be that beggar. Be better, do better, and and see the rewards come your way.
When you run out of ideas for a post, join a contest!
- Expand your writing style, creativity, and imagination by joining a writer contest.
- Explore your creative artistic side with photography or drawing contest.
- Participate in contest for a chance to WIN PRIZES!!
Communities!
- Join them, support them, create them!
- Find out which one fits your interest and join!
- Take it slow, join one at a time, accept the opportunity to get involved

Minnow University
This project is brought to you by witness @swelker101 with support from @isaria and @kubbyelizabeth to help new Steemit users understand the concepts and basics of Steemit and other STEEM blockchain platforms. We have working relationships with MSP at PALnet and The Writer's Block to help educate minnows on how to grow their accounts without resorting to spam or practices that may stunt their ability to flourish on the platform. Brought to you by the Pink Professor,
Great work Kubster.
You're turning into a brilliant teacher.
❤️
If I had to rate you from 1 to 10, I'd rate you as a 9 because I'm the 1 you're missing.
Fantastic information for newcomers to Steemit like me. I have some rewards due to hit my wallet over the next week, which is exciting, and I'm planning to reinvest it all back into Steem Power. Loving the information you put out there, and I'm just about to watch the video!
Proud of you, keeping going on this steemit journey
Great tips of engagement you left there, I did a similar post myself, but I've learnt something new on yours on how to prevent being flagged. Great stuff overall Kubby. 👏
Join our discord and message me this post of yours. If it’s as helpful as you say, I’ll add it to our classroom :)
Kubbyyy.. thumbs up to you and everyone that's helping in this :)
I'm sharing this to my arab steemit community, i'm sure they'll definitely benefit from this!
Mcfarhat!!! 💜 thank you ☺️
Nice post, thankfully I already knew all of this which I guess means I'm no longer a complete steemit noob; but if I were a noob this post would definitely help me out!
I guess it’s time to teach, when can you lead a class?
If you're being serious I might be able to help out at some point lol
Thank you.
I'm still yet to fully understand how witnessing works. I would appreciate a little help
They mine the blocks produce by steemit users. :) it can be a very complicated concept, but over time it will make more sense.
Thanks a lot
May God bless you for this video, it is quite enlightening.
God bless you too.
nice post..
I appreciate it...
Very helpful. Thank xyou!
hey girl power, is very nice see a woman publishing content with so much quality here in Steemit because I have seen men predominantly.
There are a ton of women keep looking! :)
