If it's someone you've been following and upvoting for a long time, #4 is an option - since it's someone who's ideas you generally like you could at least talk about what you find disturbing and why. I don't know, but keeping your mind shut seems too much like the real world where you don't want to upset the boss or you're co-workers. You might end up ruining that Steemit friendship and losing an upvote, but than again money isn't everything and shouldn't be at least on this platform.
I've had people disagreeing with me on certain topics and I understand their right to a different opinion.

Last time when I took option 4, I was just flagged back. So much of my good intentions... that's why I'm saying that you can't say for sure to whom you are dealing with
