Here is a picture of my dogs. Surely this is OK to post here!
Yesterday I wrote a post about a spousal abuser and the eight day sentence the person got for an assault with a deadly weapon charge in Canada. You can still see my post @leopotato entitled “Shattered Dreams”. I stated near the end of the post that we are not allowed to talk about it. Steemit has certainly proved that to me. Within half an hour of uploading the post Steemit removed it from the feed. The information for this post came from a Dateline documentary, three different you tube rants by Faith Goldy of Rebel Media and numerous news articles on the subject.
You see, I don't care what colour you are or where you came from. Do we really have to tell people that spousal abuse is a bad thing? What kind of moral compass does someone have to have to believe they have the right to pummel someone with a hockey stick anywhere on earth! I worked for a Crown Counsel office in Canada for awhile. I have seen the battered faces of far too many women.
I thought Steemit might be different. I thought it might be a place where people could band together and make a difference. Is not our goal to help make the world a better place where no one is living in fear of the next beating? It looks like Steemit doesn't think so. We're just supposed to post pictures of sunshine and ponies.
I know I’m not the only person who has had posts censored. It's time to tell everyone the rules Steemit!
I believe they prefer pictures of unicorns
Perhaps, despite the mantra of non-censorship, they are afraid of the law and any legal implications.
Did not see your post - perhaps it was too detailed?
Lets stick to stopping the domestic violence against unicorns!
You should be able to go on my blog and see it. @leopotato. @bullishmoney was able to accesss it there. All info came from the Communist Broadcasting Corporation of Canada (CBC) and news articles in my local papers as well as a Dateline Australia documentary. Did not plagerize either. Faith Goldy of Rebel Media has done three youtube videos on this story. All info I wrote about can be seen by googling the subject. Nothing I said was illegal.
Steemit says they do not censor. They say the community will take care of things. Only one person ever got to read it. The community never got the chance to vote it down. Steemit is a waste of my time. I have better things to do than post pictures of my cats!
I cannot argue the logic, I spent an hour writing quality content in a blog post and I got 2 views with no comments...
Then I am awarded $0.01... ie 1 cent... so if I works an 8 hour day I can hope for 8 cents a day? Even 3rd world countries get around a dollar day!
I think there is more profit in commenting intelligently until at least I build a higher rating becoz my posts sink like a lead balloon even though they have life changing content.
But posting a pink unicorn might give me bonus steem lol
You could try to promote your blog post and see if it gets cencored... I think like most blog posts, they just drop down so fast because there is so many posting now in the hope to make steem money.
If you have time, see my thoughts on the future of steemit, you might have some comments to add to my post!
It was removed because it is not on any of the five tags I gave it either. I'll check our your article on Steemit 's future. I don't think it has one!
I find it extremely sad that political correctness has found its way in here. Now I know I'm new to this but everyone who brags anf advertises Steemit says how free, uncensored, unbiased and liberating it is in here. But I'm started to realise it's the opposite of that. And I learned that in 3 days. It's sad that people are soooooooo scared of those snowflakes that can't take any kind of criticism. When I was a child my mother always said, "sticks and stones may break your bones, but name will never hurt you!" But these days everyone is so in need of their safe space and scared of ruffling one feather that the only things that get done are atrocities and abdominal acts because no one dares speak up. But I'm standing with you @leopotato and all others who will speak up for those who are oppressed, to HELL with the bullshit laws that say we can't question something because of racial bigotry. Abuse is abuse whether you're white, brown, beige, green, blue!!!!
Absolutely @alioops! Thanks for your support.
It is an absolute pleasure.
The post is still there!
I don't know what happened to it initially, but it must have been a rare glitch.
Steemit doesn't just remove entire posts from the blockchain.
Every once in a while someone tries to post and the entire thing glitches and erases. So just make sure to have a backup copy in case that happens, so that you can repost it.
It was resteemed today by another steemer.. Both original posts disappeared within an hour. If my resteemed post doesn't disappear as well, maybe my faith in humanity might be restored just a little bit. I don't understand how Steemit works. Is it true some whale person can down vote me down to the basement and make a post disappear that way?
A person can't resteem a post that isn't already there!
Maybe it's got something to do with your browser. Try using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
If your post had been flagged down below $0, it would still appear but be light grey colored and people could still read it if they want to.
Occasionally flags are abused, but they also have an important purpose of stopping spammers, plagiarizers, harassers, abusers, etc.
Normally people think twice before they start flagging, because it can come back to bite them too.
I went to bat for a small newbie a bit ago, who was posting something that can be considered controversial. The guy who flagged him had only a little more steem power than he did, but enough to make his post invisible since the new guy didn't have many followers. So I confronted the flagger and he said that it was his right to flag, so then I told that if he felt that way, it was also within my right to flag his posts back and make them disappear. Needless to say, he changed his behaviour and removed his flag.
So yes, it's a delicate balance her on Steemit.
The platform would quickly become a bad place though if we couldn't flag all the plagiarism, etc.
Thanks for this info. It did seem to have disappeared until it was resteemed from my page. I have a lot to learn about the workings of Steemit.
Any kind of abuse needs to be talked about. Whoever censors that is an abuser themselves.
You are right about abuse and censorship. I watched as a non profit society in my town covered up an abusive situation involving a 17 year old summer student and the husband of the president. He wanted the kid to quit because he was charging $20.00 per hour to do the stuff the kid was doing and it was cutting into the creeps bottom line. Things got really bad and I demanded that the creep be kicked off the property and the president told her services were no longer required. Instead, everyone on the board waited an entire year until the next election and just didn't vote her back in. Way easier than standing up and making your voice heard I guess!
