I realize the changes that occur as a digital society like this expands its boundaries: the recent arrivals are a mix of skilled orators, interested consumers, and those only focused on turning a quick buck. I have seen it before: as a sys admin for AOL, I was there just as The Endless September dawned... it is not pretty, it is not fun, and like Agrajag, I say: 'Oh no, not again'.
I arrived here before the 7/4 event (thanks again @soulsistashakti), but since then I have tried to be entertaining, with a few stumbles along the way. Now, it seems, it is more difficult to be noticed, a clear voice calling out from within a crowd cannot be heard well.
So, I have decided to do more to curate the good from the not-so... I know of the whales, and their smaller relatives the dolphins, and of course the masses of minnows. I am to become a barracuda.
I feel similar. I think it is a bit too crowded to try and be seen when posting. I'm really not a writer anyway. So I am curating and commenting. I wish you well as you do this too!
What was "The Endless Summer?" I've been seeing this trend a bit too, although I just had some response on my recent post right as I was giving up... I am curious to your understanding of this trend.
To be more accurate, it was the Eternal September. If TL;DR, the inclusion of Internet access from the previously 'walled gardens' of AOL, CompuServe, Prodigy and the like caused a constant influx of "noobies", just like incoming freshmen having their first experiences with the Internet.
