Steemit needs a Wall of Shame

in #steemit9 years ago

I'm sure many of us are annoyed by the spammers, bots and trolls who have started popping up on Steemit. That was inevitable, really. And the great thing is that the Steemit system will work against them and make them irrelevant.

Still, it would speed up the process if we can collectively get a list together and know who to mute. Steemit is a lot, lot better that way!

I wish I was keeping a list, I just muted and flagged a whole bunch of people en masse! But if you folks comment, I can try making a list here.

I'm a fan of Craig's - watching his video right now!

Friendly but very annoying!#1 on my list - @wang

I don't see a problem with this bot - he welcomes new users in their introduction posts, and provides very useful links for them . I do believe that @wang's posts should me marked as coming from a bot though hehe .

It's just I don't want to see anything from @wang! Hence I have muted. And I am sure many others do.

This post just makes me sad - https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@letsbereal/suicidal-thoughts . But also exposes more spammers.

I think I have a better proposal. A solution that puts the power in us collectively to use without enforcing any sort of list or centralized censorship mechanism.

Can I please get feedback on the idea? https://steemit.com/steemit/@williambanks/bot-warz-a-hybrid-approach

Of course, I'm sure this stuff gets sorted out by the time Steemit heads out of beta. The best thing about it is the platform is open. I'm sure someone's building an app right now which does what you describe - screen out useless content.

But I can't wait! Maybe it's just me, but I find my Steemit experience incredibly annoying with useless posts. So, I'm muting whatever I can, and I thought maybe such a list would help other steemers too.
