I love reading books, but sometimes I just need something to turn off my brain. Here are a few books I read recently for this very purpose.
Dinosaur and Catastrophe by Stephen Hawking
Although they don't make it into this list purely because I love the title, Hawking's fascinating account of how he came to write a book about the future of mankind is certainly worth reading.
The Power of a Thousand Suns by Brian Aldiss
If you want a fun read, just read Aldiss's novel. It's a good read that also makes an interesting argument about the future of mankind. However I feel it could be better if it had been written as a longer novel.
The Last Dinosaur by Stephen Wiltshire
What you'll actually get is a really good story of an encounter between a T. rex and a modern zoo animal, which was only in print for about six years before hitting the big time. So if you're not an environmentalist, you won't be able to say either. But it's worth reading!
