I remember while growing up, I watched a movie that I won't forget for a long time. I remember vividly how this particular movie took me to the fantasy world.
What was peculiar about this movie? - It was the flying car in it.
The movie is none other than the popular 1989 blockbuster
"Back to the Future Part II".

Anyone that has watched that movie will know exactly how sweet it is to fly in the skies in a car. How close are we to having cars fly in our skies?
INTRODUCING AEROMOBIL: The Flying Car
AeroMobil is an unbelievable car. It's a real flying car, with all that a car and an airplane have to offer. With this car, you have a choice: hit the road or fly in the skies.
Whether to stay on the road like other cars or fly in the air like an airplane; the choice is ultimately up to you. No matter how you wish to use this awesome futuristic car, AeroMobil will always turn heads.
I know most people find flying to be far more exciting than driving on the road. Check out the video proof of AeroMobil actually flying in the sky.
The team behind this futuristic innovation is based in central Europe and has been working on various prototypes of the AeroMobil since 2010.
The latest version is Aeromobil 4.0 with more advanced features over the first three versions. AeroMobile 4.0 is a hybrid electric car on the ground and gasoline-powered when in the air.
The vehicle can travel up to 100 miles per hour for more than 400 miles on the road and in the air, it can fly non-stop for almost 500 miles while cruising at speeds of up to 160 miles per hour.
AeroMobil is the size of a standard pickup truck which makes it easy to park the car into any standard parking space; the size makes it easy to be used like any other cars on the road.
IS THE AEROMOBIL SAFE FOR THE SKIES?
Safety is the first challenge that will accompany this innovation. I the future, the AeroMobil can be made legal for the public use on the roads; I am not sure if the FAA will want to risk having those cars fly in the skies.
Although the company has started the pre-order and projected to start delivering by the year 2020. I believe every driver of this unique car will need to be a certified Pilot to keep the sky safe again.
This mini-plane can take off from any Airport or from any grass strip or paved surface just a few hundred meters long.
Below are some of the images of the AeroMobil

That looks very cool but I doubt the FAA will clear those.
It might be cleared in future but I don't see them flying in the skies Currently.
Anyways looks cool for a Flying Car.
I also doubt that but we can say what the future holds. No one want some drunk driver crashing their flying car into the roof of their home.
Yeah that last part is so true.
Hello @lucashunter
Flying cars is a good initiative but it will require a lot of regulations and it may pose great risks to a lot of people.
I personally believe that cars should remain on the ground and that the air should beleft to planes and helicopters.
@ogochukwu
hmm... then in order to "drive" or "fly" this aeromobile will need to have both driving and flying license...
Sure, there will be different licenses for flying and driving. But how it would be enforced is what I don't know. Thank you for your comment.
You are welcome
My kids love the idea. But, you better have a good maintenance plan (and darn good accident insurance), because having a breakdown mid-air will not be fun.
Automated, self-flying taxis may here in the not-too-distant future.
How about we just stick to self-driving cars and make sure that goes well first? http://www.nvidia.com/object/drive-automotive-technology.html
Every technology has both good and bad side, I feel it would be awesome to fly in the sky in my personal car. I don't know how this is going to work. We are close to 2020 already.
True, that'd be amazing, but what I was trying to say is we don't actually have a 100% working model (ready for public) of a self-driving car yet. And even if there were flying cars in the near future, I'd expect it to be based on the same model of the self-driving cars: no drivers.
The main goal for self-driving cars is to completely remove the need for people to buy cars and drive, and then automatically reduce the number of accidents drastically (I dare say close to none at all).
Imagine what Uber does today - but instead of having a driver, you'd have a self-driving car pick you up anytime, anywhere. And most importantly - it'd be much cheaper. All of those cars would be in sync - your car would know what speed the car in front of you is driving with, it'd know that the car on your left is going to make a right at the next cross, etc.
Too many people die in accidents each year, and if we introduced flying cars, only God knows how many more accidents there'd be if people actually drove - here we need Artificial Intelligence to kick in. If you want to hear more about the developments in AI, I highly recommend you follow my channel.
Every one have take pilot licence. How traffic control works.... Wait and see
Yes you are right, You will need a pilot license to fly the car in the sky. But can that be implemented? I see a use for blockchain to keep the flight log public. Let's see how it works!
So finally we will be alive to see that movie scene becoming true.
Good post @lucashunter
#unmentionables
Thanks for the support my friend
I hope this one comes to reality soon. Need traffic police on the air though :P
LWKMD, we will have the air police just like we have the air army who are the airforce.
This post was very informative thank you for sharing
you have my upvote the future is coming
Thank you for your upvote. The future is here already sir

Interesting. All we need now is highways in the air. No potholes or dug up roads. No need of parking spaces, if we go George Jetson's route. Just fold it into a briefcase.
that's amazing...
I'll be getting myself one of these once Steem has gone up another $ or two!
Hopefully this day will come, but it will be a while before they will be available to public. But soon they could serve as, fast response ambulance, exploration vehicles etc. I believe it has to be VTOL ( vertical take off and landing) as it does not make much sense, to drive a flyingcar to the airport in order to deploy wings and take off, the same with landing. By the chance I would like to share my idea of the Flying Car
Thank you mate!
