RE: Well, Now I Feel Foolish

Current steem economic model is based on Keynesian madness plus soviet style collectivism

That's quite a claim about a system designed in large part by someone with strong anarcho-capitalist leanings.

I don't think the economic model needs to be scrapped completely. Most cryptocurrencies have some built in distribution of new currency (which some might consider decreases the purchasing power of existing currency), but I wouldn't go so far as to call it "Keynesian madness." Yes, there's a debt token (SBD), but it has some interesting, valuable properties, IMO. If we're going to transition humanity off of fiat currency, a token of value they are familiar with and is "stable" (from their perspective) for buying and selling things is really important (IMO).

I agree, we need strong business leaders and people who know how to make money. I also think the vision here is much larger than just "make money." My biggest concern with the Dan leaving is we may also lose some of that larger vision. Reading through his posts, it's clear to me he was much more than just a developer.

Sort:

He doesn't have a vision. he was just a dreamer. please don't overvalue him.
He was a good engineer, but again that's all. Also speaking of current Steemit, collectively forced voting plus collectively force SBD participation is exactly Keynesian madness plus soviet style collectivism.

He doesn't have a vision.

I've read many of his blogs and respectfully disagree with you. He clearly has a vision. Calling his vision a dream or him a dreamer is a matter of opinion.

You and I must be using the word "force" differently. "Soviet style collectivism" actually did use force (guns, assassinations, etc). There is no force here. It's all based on voluntary participation. I don't think extreme comparisons are helpful.

I have read every his articles and as I read his article more, I become more doubted about his economic understanding and vision. seriously.I concluded that he doesn't have a vision or has a wrong one because of lack of understanding about economics. again ,He does not understand economics, does not understand business. He was just a naive dreamer. good at writing C++ but again, that all.
yes it is forced by code not by gun, so somewhat different.
Steem can make it without one C++ coder.

Let's NOT lose ALL of Dans vision, those of you who actually know and share his vision...Continue
