Okay, I don’t know why, but I’m going to start quoting from the story of this vineyard owner and fig tree.
“A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’ “ ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’ ”
-Luke: 13 (6-9)
This is a go-to story that comes to my mind every time I decide to quit something. So, let me tell you why you should not quit Steemit.
Yes sometimes it’ll be disappointing to see all these promoted posts with loads of upvotes from the bots on the trending pages. But don’t leave. Stay and dig a little more and you will find the genuine content and communities.
The best ones are never on the surface but I promise they are there. Here are a few tags that can connect with a few such great people and explore posts.
In this post, I am not going in depth about all these tags and contests but just letting you know that it is a good idea to stick around.
So, if you are not finding the type of content you are looking for on Steemit, there are two ways.
Be the one who start to post such type of content.
Search with the right category tags
Photography feeds are one of the best categories on Steemit. Have you seen the entries and winning posts in the tag #photofeed? No, I’m not talking about the highly filtered pics. Just check out these guys who conduct this photography contests. They are high quality pictures.
There is another contest run by @worldcapture only for portrait photography. Check out the details of this contest here. When it comes to Steemit and photography, there are a lot more than I can list down in this overall post.
There are contests and communities that’ll inspire you for a healthy living. @actifit is one such Dapp with some serious rewards for your activities.
Wednesday walk and market Fridays. These contests will make you explore the places around you. If you have a 9-5 and fed up with the routine of life, get up, take a walk and post what you found in your neighborhood.
I have seen people really getting out and making a detailed post about their walk and surroundings. You will get to see life in a different place with all of its details. Markets, abandoned houses, local parks, you name it.
@Tasteem… aahh, how can I not mention Tasteem?! To all the foodies out there, this place is a treasure house for you. You can find out about interesting places to eat around the world through their reviews. Tasteem let’s you review a place and get rewarded for your reviews.
Combine your review of a great meal you had from somewhere with the tag #foodoftheworld and pin it to the #steemitworldmap, and just got the perfect combo of audience to your post.
#foodoftheworld is a tag used for food around the world and get noticed by the travel community of Steemit, @travelfeed. Travelfeed has its own beta version of app release, Travelfeed.io. TravelFeed lets you pin your post about travel related content and pin it into a specific location.
@steemitworldmap is also such a place where you can pin your post to the exact location of your post. This way, anyone can easily find your posts when they search for something in a particular area.
@nTopaz contests are on a different level when it comes to contests. They focus on art and artists. You’ll get to see many original art works posted thought their site. This is a great initiative when it comes to supporting artists.
Not interested in any of such topics but only science? @steemSTEM got you covered there. Join the great community of scientists, PhD students and other science enthusiasts here. No kidding, the posts in this community is distilled for quality. Use the tag @steemSTEM and get curated by few genius heads on Steemit.
Speaking of science, there is a community that is dedicated to weed, yes, Marijuana and smoking. But the posts may surprise you when they talk about different breeds of cannabis, different stages of it’s growth and things you might not have thought about a cannabis plant.
In this era, where we are rediscovering the potential of CBD and other cannabinoids, this community may give you some insights if your content is inclined that way.
So, what I am trying to say is, give it a chance. Don’t just leave because the videos you saw promising you can earn a ton on Steemit didn’t come true in your first month, or year.
If you stay longer and take a look a bit deeper, you may find the perfect tribe. You may learn a little more about how it all works, how you can actually make an income.
Moreover everything, you can surround yourself with other like minded people who can inspire you and be part of one of one of the pioneering communities built with the blockchain technology.
So, back to our Bible story, just give it another try, this time with more proper tags and consistent posts. Let go if it doesn’t work out.
