I think that nowadays people rely on social media sites in order to rather flaunt certain things they have, or as you said to only show the good side of their life. One thing that facebook was originally invented for was to get in contact with other people and some still use it as a means of staying in contact with friends and family but others have started this new trend of using it to portray a side of them that could possibly not even be true, they become obsessed with what their Facebook page looks like and the extremes some people go to in order to get a good enough photo to share with millions of people they don’t know is ridiculous.
