• Duplicate content can cause penalties from Google, especially if it happens extensively.

The major problem here is people have valued introductions over real content for example: I have read yesterday the quick introduction of a girl having a blast in vegas showing a verified picture of her ( could really well be another photoshoped steem picture) In this picture she has a crack of boobs out and she ended earning 1500$ so far.

So big people (aka whales) are voting. I know they are doing it to try to attract more demographic than just tech and crypto people. In that image the cancer cure actually got more votes. Those voting just don't have much steem power yet. Therefore, there is a ray of sunlight, an image of hope that things will change. Remember this is beta and we are all early to this thing.

You can check if an article on Steem is plagiarized, what percent of it is plagiarized, and from what sources by running it through this Plagiarism Checker.

Yeah... Got the same problem last year - one "clever" guy decided to steal my identity: he created social media profiles that duplicated mine (all personal and professional info, all links to my publications, all descriptions of skills and professional path), except the name and photo. The funniest thing, he called himself "Lester" (I am Lesley - got it? :) Now I use https://plagiarismcheck.org/ and other corresponding tools to check for duplications every file I create to prove my authorship in case of accusations. C'est la vie...
