No, because I want to see what I'm upvoting. I promote these posts on my feed, chat, twitter, fb, linkedIn etc, so I want to make sure I really want to upvote.
I'm not ruling it out for the future though. What is your experience?
I keep it on all the time and use it for passive income so it just keeps curating all the time. You can select the curation trail you want to follow.
The above image shows my curation rewards through the day on steemnow.com. If I did not use Streemian not many bar charts would be shown and hence not much curation rewards being made. If I had more SP then obviously the curation rewards would be higher. Using Streemian also does not stop you from manually curating post that you like.
If you look at some of the successful steemian on steemnow.com, you will find their curation rewards are huge and probably round the clock. So imo don't let your manual curation get in the way of making more money to build up your SP faster. You can build up your SP now to do good things later.

But aren't those people with the huge rewards people with huge sp to begin with? I feel like I'm doing pretty good by hand-picking and promoting. For most of what I upvote, I also comment and promote in other places which increases rewards for me as an author and a curator. Do you go look at these posts you upvote or not? Would in be easy to find them through that system?

However I read somewhere that it is said if your reward is too small for calculation by Steemit then it will be considered as zero so SP is important.
I do do manual curation and also comment and I usually make comments using chainbb.com to get that extra upvote reward from @jesta.

I did look at your curation and see the .001's coming in like mad. I mostly am over .03 now at least and hope to grow that. I definitely have way less volume of voting than you do.
I get what you are saying about set it and forget it, but I really am trying to help some minnows succeed. I think my .13 or so vote helps more than the .01 and that my promotion and commenting helps them too.

Yes, it is true that if your vote is too small [compared to all other votes] you will get nothing. I tested that when I first got here. Now my goal is to be in the top 20 upvoters and if I am in the top 10 - even better. When that happens I can get a pretty high reward from some of the posts.

You should also get your SP from http://www.minnowbooster.net/ . I think that your upvotes are a bit more powerful etc... if you lease SP from minnowbooster.net. Though you have to pay to get SP as others will delegate the requested SP for a price.
Finally you mention something I am actually doing lol. I have 3 delegated sp leases and might get 4 - not sure. But I will definitely keep this up until I'm about 5000 sp on my own. I cannot believe the difference my "huge" .13 vote makes. I outvote whales frequently since they have no power and vote at 5%.
I'm paying 28 STEEM a month for this effect right now. I just started at the end of August and I wish I would have started as soon as I had the sbd to do it.
And I buy the upgoat thing on the 6th day if I qualify now. I figure this gives a better benefit to my upvoting "fans" and recycles some sbd into sp at the same time. I'm really happy with this plan so far but open to your thoughts. I don't do it early since I think it looks trashy. So I just wait until the end.

I saw your rewards for curation and I am very impressed. After all you put in the work to find these posts and I commend you for that. Unfortunately I am not as astute as you so i will have to manage with the smaller rewards ;-)
That's not true! If you had the desire you could do this too! It's all a matter of finding what interests you here and jumping on it.
Somehow I'm all fascinated by the preppers, homeschoolers, and homesteaders, even though I live in a hotel with no kitchen and no kids now. I have those type of people on twitter too, so I hope I get interest that way. I'm getting rt's anyway :)

You can auto up vote accounts you trust or close friends. You can make / join a guild on Streamian and get a significant boost. You'd need to meet the criteria though.
But still - I'm careful of my voting power and I don't want to upvote "all" of my friend's posts in many cases. They might post on two topics and I only have interest in one. Plus you never know until you look what is in the post.
I also use chainbb.com to make comments and sometime post. You get an upvote from @jesta everytime you make a comment or post through chainbb.com. A way of making a bit more rewards for your posts. If you scroll through some of my comments you will notice that most of them have been upvoted by @jesta resulting in some reward.

ChainBB.com is just a conduit to Steemit and just presented in another format. You can post and make comment through chainbb.com instead of logging in to Steemit. Not like Discord at all.
