Well said Greg ! Facebook for the most part is filled with self serving attention seekers projecting these wonderful lives that they are supposedly living. Where as on Steemit, what I see is oodles and oodles of valuble content, there is definitley a different breed of people on this platform.

Well on your advice I started a account and received my authorization to post yesterday. Not sure if I have made any money in my opening day but that bottom number went from 4.86 to 7.56 in 24 hours and I only made comments and posted 4 short blogs. Thanks for the advice. DR

Top o' the mornin' to you Mr. Mannarino and all my fellow followers of you! I wanted to say thanks for turning me on to steemit. I must say I'm really enjoying it and find it refreshing! Yes it's a bit confusing at first and exactly how it works I'm still fitting the pieces together. I think we're all still aboard the learning curve but that's why we have each other! Gonna finish my cup o' joe and do a little steemit surfing while my daughter enjoys her cheerios and Thomas the train! Thanks again, much appreciated and as always I enjoyed!
I'm still learning myself. I don't quite understand what powering down is or the differnence between tokens and other items. Just trying to let time on the site teach me.
Some of your Steem rewards are in Steem Power (SP) which gives you voting influence. To get that into 'liquid steem' that you can transfer to others or use on markets you have to 'power down'. That transfers SP to Steem over 13 weeks. You can stop it at any time. Steem Dollars are supposed to be pegged to US$, but the price has been driven up lately. These would be useful for buying goods as you should know what they will be worth. If you search around you will find lots of tutorial posts. Also see the FAQ that's linked from the main menu (top right of the page).

I joined up last year and am having a great time. I'm only a casual blogger, but even I can make good money here. Steemit is really growing now and I hope to see lots of cool people posting. There's also potential to sell goods or services for Steem, so you can gain funds that way too. This is just the start of something amazing

Exactly, potential is huge & if FB went south at the same time even better. Theres an invasive / privacy / liberty being compromised by FB issue in play here too which makes steemit platform even more attractive beyond its obvious blockchain steem crypto aspect
Do you think that it will become harder to create original content though and will increased numbers of people lead to dilution of votes?
It may be harder to stand out as it grows. I would hope that Steem will grow in value so that people will still get something for their work, but I think that those who got in early had an advantage. We will have to see how Steemit scales to millions of users

But in the future I expect we will see a market for steem only.

I assume you only get money (steem) if someone votes on your comment? This is all new to me. It only took me 2 hours to figure out how to follow Greg. Hopefully they make it more user friendly.
Steemit is a great concept too as a cryptocurrency, and how they should have a backing of some type of value, work, effort, or resource.

Maybe you could take some of the stress out of this for us and make a video about how to exchange our steam it and to real current sea that we can use in the store . The concept seems real innovative and I do hope it draws people away from crap social media like shitbook and the likes which I've stopped using long ago. Currently the crowd is growing but the content uploaded here is mostly crap by others just testing this out.

I think as long as it maintains a somewhat professional atmosphere, for the most part, it could be a better networking platform than any of the other social media sources. Simply for the fact in can be a great way to crowd fund AND market any business. Hopefully, it can weather the oncoming storm of the crypto currency gold rush, as the phrase "cashless society" grows louder.
