Back again with some awesome tools I use in my freelance writing that are perfect for use here on steemit. I hope they help you as much as they have me. So, here, in no particular order, are 4 of my favorite tools, (3 free and one paid) with descriptions of how they can help you on Steemit.
**Pixabay **
Pictures are essential for shareable content on any social media platform and steemit is no different. The key is finding royalty free images, buying stock photos or creating your own images to share. Pixabay.com features a huge collection of high quality, free images in a variety of sizes and formats.
- Sign up for a free account to get the biggest images
- Take some time to look around and try a few searches to get used to the interface
- Setup a folder for your Steemit images, to make them easy to find, or save images with your stories. It will save you time with the next tool.
Since Steemit does not allow you to upload images directly here, all images are redirects from another online repository. Image Safe provides a great one that is super convenient and easy to use. It's also free!
- Find or create an image and save it where you can find it
- Log on to Image Safe and either find the file, or drag the image onto the screen and select the upload option.
- Once your image is uploaded, click on it and save the URL of the page at the top. Paste it into the next tool in this list for easy image embedding.
I've mentioned this one once already, but it's a pretty great tool. Since Steemit requires either plain text posts, or markup, those of us who are tech savvy, but not into coding have a slight disadvantage when it comes to making sexy looking posts on Steemit. Stackedit is a free markup editor, with a great visual preview.
- Paste, or type your post into the editor, then select from the options at the top to format text, add links, add images and more
- Drop links for hyperlinks and images (see the last tool) into the appropriate tool from the navigation bar and Stackedit does the work.
- Copy and paste the markup version of your newly formatted post into the story share editor on Steemit and voila!
Even though I write all day every day and pass every grammar and punctuation test with flying colors, my writing often gets sloppy. So, I use editing software to back me up and catch common mistakes. Whitesmoke is a subscription software. They also have a free online version, but it's not as convenient.
- Highlight the text in your post on the editor and engage Whitesmoke's "browser" mode editor
- Correct spelling, etc, in the Whitesmoke window and changes are made in your post automatically
- You can use the free version, but you'll have to copy and paste your text into it and make manual corrections.
Use this fantastic four for awesome posts!
Find and add great images, format good looking posts, and edit for good grammar for a winning combination. Good luck. Find any other useful tools? Let me know!
