First of all, I came to Steem thanks to my boyfriend who started to read and watch videos about cryptocurrency. He said there is some kind of social network which pays for upvotes and posts. I have to say, it seemed to me unbelievable at the beginning. I thought that maybe very small amounts of money can be earned. You know, as a person accustomed to networks like Facebook, Instagram and so on you think your posts have no financial value.
I tried to make my work more visible on many platforms, but none of them could offer me as much as Steemit. During twenty two days my account got 260 followers and its value is more than $300. I wrote 50 posts and about 200 comments.
However we all meet also the “darker side” here. Many users created their accounts just because of they think, they can get free money without work. They do not have content to offer and some of them miss a healthy amount of self-reflection and self-respect. We can see generic comments and some people don´t try to read or even open posts they voted on.
I have seen a post asking for a financial support, but the author would give only a half of rewards. Bots who spam, posts with one picture without texts and so on… Possible earnings can turn people into hoarders, who just want to get, but not to give. There are no sunny days without shadows.
Yet I was glad to see positive action of many users, who have a real interest in my work . Also many talented people with unique work who are doing their best to build a community. I appreciate a work of whales and dolphins.. As I can see they have a great deal of responsibility to help Steemit to grow and also cultivate. They always try to support those who deserve it by resteems, boosts, creating contests, lists of undervalued posts, and so on. I feel more motivated to share better posts.
I really like the system of downvotes which discourages people from being rude, hateful and also from posting scams or poor content. Instead people have to think about their comments and act more responsibly. I miss this kind of arrangement on other platforms, where you can meet mass hostility every day, because people have nothing to lose doing this.
Some of my relatives still don´t believe I can earn money just by posting and upvoting. It is not easy to be successful by doing art, but here I found promissing option of progress. I worked so hard on my skills so I am glad now seeing people like and value what I do.

I agree with your thoughts @marty-arts. Some of the people are really only here for the money. Some even posts loq quality contents just to earn upvotes. Im just sad that the steemit community is slowly becoming a venue for income generation. Lets work together to make this a better place for fellow bloggers. 👌

Nice post Marty, always looking to what you share. You are a very talented person. I think we have more or less the same time around, hope you are having fun. I am learning too about crypto and I am a total noob at blogging, but steemit had helped me out with exposure and meeting great artists... I think my balance over a month is quite positive. I agree with you, it is all about quality content and what you have to offer

I agree with there being a bit of a darkness here some days but I know there are "cleaners" that also help with that stuff. I have been here 19 days as well and put a lot of time and effort into posting my content (even though I am not an artist with a talent like you), and make sure it looks good and shares what I love. It's so true that that you will always get people who try to scam a system. It's a shame but there will always be people like that.

I will be back later, but wanted to say that your view of steemit and mine are pretty similar, I think. there are many who think that the work to make a good post, is unnecessary, and they can look to some people's profiles I suppose and see what looks to be evidence, but we both know that it's not like that
