Well that went fast!
So it's been more than 6 months since I joined Steemit already! And what a crazy time it's been so far.
There have been many lessons learned and a hell of a lot of fun had so far. And I can only see it getting better in the future.
For me, Steemit is a long term commitment. I love this platform and all the various applications that have been built on it so far (especially @dtube for obvious reasons).
So in the video above I want to tell you about some of the things I've gained and learned from Steemit so far, what I hope to achieve on this amazing platform, and what projects I'll be focusing on for the future.
So what's happened over the past 6 months?
- I've discovered a community that is supportive, engaging and a hell of a lot of fun - especially all my buddies over at #TeamAustralia.
- I've been given an opportunity to greatly improve my writing skills - coming from a world where I spent many hours a day writing scientific reports, I've now developed an ability to write in a way that is designed to engage with my audience and inspire conversation. This is a fantastic skill to develop.
- I've been forced out of my comfort zone - even to the point where I now make videos. This is something that I never would have had the confidence to do if it wasn't for the encouragement from my #TeamAustralia buddies and the invention of @dtube.
So what's in store for the future?
The future looks even more exciting than the past 6 months!
I'll continue to build my online store - Steemit Shop Australia where I supply Steemit and DTube merchandise to the community.
In addition to this, I'm continuing to work on the amazing creation that is blockdeals.org, also check out @blockdeals. This site is all about disrupting the $5 billion deals and couponing community and has potential to be a massive "deal" and bring massive numbers to the Steemit blockchain - check out our intro post here.
We're looking for more delegation for the @blockdeals project so that we can give real rewards to people who take the time to find and share deals and coupons. No, I didnβt have any money to invest when I joined.
Steem isnβt my full time gig but is definitely an obsession now. I work full time while doing all the things I spoke about in the video in my spare time.

Not on steemit. There is a .02 payout threshold. If I upvote solo it goes to 0. If you upvote yourself at about 10% or higher then my upvote would count.
You might want to self upvote this comment if you don't want the vote to go to waste.
I wasted at least 1,000 upvotes that went to 0. :(
I thought the threshold was 0.1 actually. I had no idea it was 0.2. Iβm glad my 10% vote is 0.2 then. :(
Yeah I did check it. lol Even .019 posts will show as .02 but not count. I think if you did 9% upvotes or your vote power went a little low then they wouldn't count. Why are you being flagged? Trollshunter flagged your previous comment. :(

Thatβs awesome mate. Itβs all about being active and consistent. Donβt worry about playing catch up. Just create a tonne of good content.
Steemit definitely takes a lot of patience and dedication. I've had my ups and down, but imma stick it through. I've been a member for 3 months.
Iβd be lying if I said it was all roses over the last 6 months. There will definitely be ups and downs.
It does take a lot of patience, creativity and hard work. But itβs well worth sticking at. :)

Today is my day one.. hoping my journey mimics yours.. I just got fed up with reddit a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try. I wasn't sure how it would go after spending so much time there.. but this feels really familiar and the content is actually fantastic. Grats on your accomplishment.

Steemit can take a little while to get used to at first but is a fantastic place once you find the right communities for you.

My store is an online store that sells Steem and DTube merchandise. The store also accepts payment via crypto for products. I just discovered this morning that payment via Steem and SBD stopped working for some reason so need to fix that, but payment can still be made using other crypto.
I can send internationally if needed and plan to offer a wide range of products that can be purchased using crypto.

Its been 5 months since i joined. The days fly so quickly. It slips like sand. It is still just like yesterday.
They do, and the nights as well. One potential downside of Steemit is how often I forget to sleep when creating stuff.

Put more stuff on DTube!
I have already did, I am not a big fan of dtube - too slow, too many problems. They erased some great videos of mine some time ago. I have a youtube channel that earns me money, that is working quite well.
If you can call it a hobby, they make a person's life brighter and more interesting. Pleasant occupation distracts from monotony of everyday life, saves in difficult life situations, and sometimes becomes means of earnings and a professional vocation. Reveal human with a new hand. Become a little weak and a strong passion.

I guess that means I'm only two months behind you. Seems like a short while, and at the same time, feels like longer. Guess that might be the long days.
Amazing how much you have going on, and how much of it is STEEM related.
One thing this place seems to do for the majority of us is take us out of our comfort zones. Some of us farther than others. Congratulations on the milestone and the achievements to date.

Yes, it would be. And it's easier to see it happening when the price of STEEM goes up. Not as easy when it starts to go back down. :) I was thinking the other day had I managed to get in at $0.01 USD with what I have invested, I'd already be a millionaire. Oh, well.
Yeah I wish Iβd discovered Steem back then too. There are posts from the early days that earned more than $30k....
That's a tad exorbitant, but I wouldn't mind $75-$150 USD on a regular basis. That's about what 700-1,000 word post with photos should be worth, nice and original at today's STEEM prices. It's not like I necessarily want to retire tomorrow, you know. :) My wife already thinks I'm already playing around on here, so might as well make her think that for a while longer. Then just go, "Surprise! Time to retire."
Haha I plan on surprising my wife with some decent earnings from here too.
Get that video up mate. Or start doing stuff on DSound. I swear youβll start seeing some decent returns to impress the lady with.

Steemit is amazing! I joined 10 days ago and I am, literally, addicted to it. Everyday I learn something new about this community and its people and stories. I liked what you said that you had been forced out of your comfort zone. I'm sure that Steemit makes us discover hidden facets of ourselves which we don't even know that we have.
