Weekly Marijuana Recap: Weed Posts, Nugs and Steemians to Check Out! (6/10/2018)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Hello, fellow marijuana enthusiasts on Steemit!
This is the start of a weekly recap we want to do every Saturday or Sunday. The goal of these posts will be to feature content we find interesting, informative, valuable or entertaining from the "cannabis", "marijuana" or "weed" tags on Steemit. Our goal is to help the content creators get more exposure and the extra followers we think they all deserve.

Featured every week: a text post/article that is informative and well-written, a post showcasing some tasty-looking nugs and a fellow marijuana enthusiast whose content we think you all might enjoy.
So let's get started and see how that goes!

Veteran Posts Depressing Photo Showing How Many Pills He Must Take Because Cannabis Is Illegal

Pretty triggering first feature, eh? This post follows Joshua Lee, a veteran who served with the Missouri National Guard and spent a year in Afghanistan, where he was diagnosed with a painful illness which was causing a horrible inflammation of the hands. In October 2010 he returned home from Afghanistan and began going to the VA for medical treatment. He was prescribed an abundance of different pills he had to take on a daily basis which amounted to about 10,000 pills annually!
After Lee calculated this himself and concluded that the number of pills he was prescribed was way too unnatural he thought it would be shocking, yet revealing to see what all of the pills he had to take annually would look like if gathered in one place. The result was the unnerving photo that you can see above.
Lee's photo went viral on Facebook and Reddit, sparking huge discussions on the state of healthcare and the freedom people have when it comes to treatment. The Free Thought Project did an amazing job on bringing all this information to us on Steemit and we hope you find the time to check out the original post they made.

Lonely Nug

We know there are way more epic, huge and glamorous nugs out there that have been posted this week. For this first recap though we wanted to pick something simpler but more professional looking if you will. This nug is brought to us by runicar. The post features only one photo which shows a lonely nug on a white background; the strain is unknown. The lighting, the focus, the position of the nug and the background itself all work well together to bring us this pleasant to look at image. This shows that you don't need to be living in Colorado and be in possession of the best strains out there to take a good weed photo :).

For the future we promise to try and stick to new Steemians with less followers and activity, but we thought that Kief just really deserved this. He is a real marijuana enthusiast who brings weed news to Steemit on a daily basis and is super active in the cannabis-related categories. In addition to being a medical marijuana patient and a legalization activist he is also an edibles specialist, having written his own cookbook of timely-tested edibles. His podcast is a pleasure to listen to and you always learn something new about the world of marijuana. Check him out for sure if you are interested in edibles, legalization or being up to date on your weed news - we promise you will not be disappointed!

Hopefully you enjoyed reading our first little recap. If you have any suggestions or notes please make sure leave us a comment - we try to read and upvote them all!

Thank you for reading! Follow us and leave a comment with what topic you want covered in the next post!
