As most who have chatted with me for more than a surface chat know im hoping to get away from it all and build a self sustaining property in the middle of nowhere so i can leave all the city worries behind. I have spent a bit of time making calculations, budgets, costs etc and it seems its all quite reasonable to do.
There have been a few sketches put together over the time i have been playing around with the concept, but they have mostly been looking at creative ways of unit placement to have some funky designs and stuff. While this is all well and good im starting to go for a more simple design that is functional and will be easy to complete. This will mean i have more time, money and effort to spare on the fun stuff.... we can talk about that laters.
For now this is the first of many renditions that will be coming together over time, hopefully more and more detailed until it is set in stone and it starts to come to life ;) will be interesting to see how this evolves.

This sounds like an awesome concept, do you have a rough total cost yet or a budget? Maybe look at some tiny house designs. That layout is very neat and rather conventional.
I made calculations before the first tesla cell came out and it was looking at 120k at that point, but that was also including another three containers and a much grander design. looking at the difference in some materials and technology after the tesla cell came out it was going to knock off about 30k off the total.... not been calculating since the tesla 2.
We will be using re-purposed and recycled materials where possible which will again be bringing down costs. its all ball park for now as its in concept stages, but i like to blow out prices so we are pleasantly surprised when we get there :)
We keepin it simple for now, but it will definitely shift as we get into the nitty gritty, may even do another sketch tonight/ over the weekend and flesh it out a bit more... i think at leas one more container as well
Yeah we have been taking the tiny house concept and scaling it up... cos im a giant (6'4) and couldn't handle tiny home life, lolz. We also plan on incorporating some Earthship concepts as well. but it will all come down to what the council allows us to do on the land so that will also be a governing factor on what we do and where we do it....
